thanks ponders, I had read some info saying temps up to 98 for basking but after reading your post i double checked at several more reputable places and saw that 90 is more ideal, I replaced the 75w infared with a 60w regular lamb bulb and adjusted the height to get it at 89 in the basking spot. He hadn't ever basked directly underneath where I recorded it at 96 instead usually basking just outside the area and that must have been why so thanks again. Also, if anyone would like to give me some pointers about supplementation it would be much appreciated. I know this is a subject where suggestions very greatly and am aware of other posts with a similar question but still haven't seen a real consensus. Earlier in this thread I provided my supplementation schedule up to this point and would welcome any critiques. Thanks
Oh and as far as the 76 at night, I haven't come across any info where it would be a problem though I am definitely not experienced so I would also appreciate thoughts on this. Thank you
Hi,
I just got these off Screameleons website: 85-90 basking, 75-85 daytime, 65-75 night time. Your night time isn't too bad, I just think a drop at night is better as long as it doesn't go too far below 60. Do you use any heat source at night to keep it at 76? If so you could just turn it off.
No heat source at night, the a/c is set at 76 and is not under my control unfortunately (we have a fairly large home and to have it cooler is pricey here in coppell, tx). I do however run my ceiling fan at night as I prefer it cooler when sleeping so that might help. On another note, I have been cramming as much of the numerous opinions around here as possible about supplementation and will change my schedule accordingly.. I'm going to use calcium w/o D3 every other day and the repcal herptivite and calcium with D3 once a week but I'm curious if for as long as I'm using crickets (I would like to start using a mix of hornworms dubias and silkworms within a month) I should use calcium every day and also because it is too hot most days to get some natural sunshine though I will be taking him out as weather permits. Thanks
