My build (guide for everyones use!)

It's taken me a while to write this up (I was originally doing it as a blog, but got side tracked, so have just slammed it all into one pdf) but it's finally done.

I'm hoping this has worked and everyone can download it (it is 3Mb) as I've never hosted anything before, but here's the link:

This is what my enclosure looks like so you know roughly what you'll be building (if the instructions are good enough):

If you notice any errors/bad grammar etc please let me know and I'll improve for everyones use. Also, if you want some more information and pictures just PM me or something.

Cheers all! Enjoy!

It worked! Thanks Jim, I'm sure your Veiled will love this huge cage. I really like how deep it is! Did you not put the enclosure's dimension's in the document or did I just miss it.

I didn't! I didn't really put any sizes in as I thought people would want to change things and do it there way. The size is:

Main enclosure:
80cm x 120cm x 180cm

Base:
80cm x 120cm x 40cm

I will be making another one soon, but a bit simpler than this one, so I'll do that with all the sizes (of wood, the screws, etc) so everyone should be able to recreate what I did. I sort of did this one to test what everyone though about it and what I should include in the next!

I'm glad the download worked though. Hopefully it will be useful to someone out there!

Its kept in quite a small room so the ambient air temperature is maintained easily. Humidity is not an issue due to all the live plants and the base being made as it is. The base can hold upto 72 litres of water in the hydroton layer alone, so with the soil and moss also holding water, even with the large area for diffusion, levels are very nicely balanced from top to bottom.

great set-up, I was thinking of making one for a veiled, or panther but havint decided which yet. I was wondering though, the screen that you use, is it metal? where is it from as i couldnt see any mention of it in your instructions.
cheers

Yeah, it's epoxy coated aluminum. Fantastic stuff!

I'm in the UK so I didn't bother putting where I got it from as 90% of this forum is in the USA! But, I got it from www.themeshcompany.com! By far the best place in the UK to get this mesh from!

I have my husband looking at your design, he said it is excellent, he is the world most precise person so that it high praise. I want to see if he can build one large enough to hold a mellers. I really want one but worry about where it would live.

This sized enclosure should be fine for a mellers! Everyone i told about making this enclosure though I was planning to get one!

Ya, I needed this too, thank you!

No worries! The next guide should be bigger and better so get yourself ready for it! :D

This is absolutely Fantastic, it really is. :D I was going to build another cage myself with some help from Daddy lol, but couldn't find the right Mesh to use, so i bought a couple of ReptiBreezes. What you have made looks so much nicer though.

May have to see if my Dad will make one of these lol

You also appear to have a Mist King ? When i got mine last year, shipping was more than what i bought lol Well worth the Expense though, he should open up a branch over here.

Cheers! It's pretty easy to build as long as you have the right stuff/tools! I'm doing another guide currently: https://www.chameleonforums.com/my-latest-build-progress-40191/ which isn't completed yet, but will be this weekend/next week. Might give you some more ideas!

Indeed I am running a mistking but I didn't buy mine from the states! I was the first person to buy it from Poland (Mistking set up a distributor there! :D). The postage is a lot cheaper and there are no import taxes/duties to pay, so it was brilliant! www.vivariumland.com if you ever need any other bits!

Cheers, Marty had said in a message to me that somewhere in Europe would be a distributer sometime this year. Glad its happened, i got stung for Import Duty aswell as postage :(

I'll be bookmarking that Link :D

Yeah, the first time I orded from the US it was only a few things and the royal mail "handling fee" cost me almost as much as the total order including the postage! I was mortified! Thankfully when it's in the EU that doesn't matter any more! Which is sweet!
