My chameleon basks with his mouth open

hey all my chameleon basks with his mouth open , is this normal? his basking spot is 82-83 degrees and she only does this when she climbs to the top and hangs directly under it . is this normal ? she doest have URI or LRI ive done a sepreate thread on that to confirm it thanks ! will post pictures if needed

Try Raising her basking temp a few degrees. This should keep her from climbing on the top screen as well. She may just be trying to get warmer but once she is up there she gets too hot. Chams usually bask with their mouth open to cool off. My guy did this same thing, I added another perch a couple inches from his old spot and he's fine now. Even stopped trying to climb up top which freaked me out. I always thought he was gonna fall. Hope this helps

This is what I did. The one he is on is the one I added, the one under him was his old spot. Now he moves back and forth between the two.
