Hes less then a year old, I try to handle him as much as possible but now a days he just doesn't even want me sticking my hand in the cage. he tries to bite me instantly. I can let him climb out himself then get him (its easier to not get bit that way but he does try)is there a chance that he will get out of this? He is a veiled. About 9 months is his age. He used to be fine with me I don't know what changed but he is extremely moody.

all veiled chameleons are pretty defensive when in their cage, even mine but i free range him now so i dont have this problem maybe it just frightens them to be cornered and unable to escape so they get snappy.

lol....

The last time I tried he tried mating with my arm.... Today my guy actually let me spray water in his mouth. He is a strange little Cham.... But that is the closest he has let me get without trying to bite my finger off.... Today I caught a nice big grasshopper for him tomorrow. We'll see how much he hates me tomorrow... lol

carefull as some hoppers can be poisonous, is it just a regular entirely greeen grass hopper those are for sure safe

It's extremely common for chameleons to be like this. I was lucky with mines, I was persistent and never flinched when he lunged for me. He soon came to realise I wasn't scared of him and I came to realise he was all talk and no bite. Don't get me wrong, some WILL bite you, but it wont hurt honestly they struggle to even break the skin. My chameleon's cage is also in my bedroom so since I've had him he's been used to me around all the time and I leave his cage open for him to come and go as he pleases (under my supervision obviously). He is now an extremely affectionate chameleon and very clingy with me. People always say they've never came across a chameleon like him. He's extremely placid, never even hisses or puffs up (unless an insect hops onto his back) and he enjoys coming out for claps on his veil, especially his night-time cuddle before bed :) Be persistent, try get him to associate you with good things like food, don't flinch when he lunges at you and hopefully he'll soon come around. If not, unfortunately it's just his personality and you'll just need to appreciate him from afar

You can always go get yourself a golf glove...  :D

It usually hit or miss with Rambo, somedays he climbs right onto my hand others he hisses and puffs up. He always snaps when I go to put him in his cage cause he knows hes no longer a free man

That's the personality of a chameleon sometimes they are friendly sometimes not. Mine always tended to be territorial. let him crawl on to your shoulder let them sit outside with you. You might get lucky and it opens up. They have crazy personalitys

So I tried a different method of taking him out today. he has a removable stick duhh so that was easy. He barely fussed! Had a great time bonding outside with the stick. When a neighbor came by he climbed on me and felt secure! I have a good feeling we will be friends yet uploadfromtaptalk1347579718196.jpg

my girl just hit her rebellion stage last week.... she turned 3 and a half months old and now she gets mad every time i walk by her cage XD

Chameleon puberty can cause that sudden change. Sometimes they get nicer, sometimes they dont. Also, some will bite and they can bite with such force that you may need stitches. Veileds in particular are very strong biters. Apparently they have a large amount of biting muscles in their casque so they have a really strong bite.
