Hi all. I have a female veiled cham about 5-6 months old that likes to walk around the bottom of her cage. And she is eating everything in sight. Could she be pregnant at such a young age? I did have her in a cage with my male for a day. He's around 5 months as well. At first she let him mount on top of her and now when they are together she is super distant and wants him away. My main question is can she be pregnant at such a young age??

She would not be ready to lay for about a month, but you should put a laying bin in as soon as possible and supplement her everything you feed religiously.

What if she starts eating the soil I put in the cage for her? She's been kind of crank also. I guess ill throw in a pot and see if she does her thing. I just don't want her to die. This is my first female chameleon. I've had tons and they were mainly males. And I'm pretty sure fertilized or tried to. I saw his pecker come out and gave it to her. They were doing there thing for 5 minutes or so. And since then he doesn't care much for her

Ok. Thanks so much for the advice. I've owned plenty of chams but usually males because they are a bit easier. I hope this all works out, I'd hate to lose the girl.

Can anyone let me know what type of soil to get? I'm.assuming something organic but also something that won't harm her if she eats it

There is no technical soil that won't harm her if she eats it, but she needs soil and it is recommended it be around 8 inches deep at least, it's less likely to cause issues if it's that deep. It should be organic yes and moist enough to hold a tunnel. If she survives this do NOT breed her again until she is 70-90 grams and at least a year old.

Thank you for this advice

She's a little camera shy. But can't really tell how big her stomach actually is

You won't really notice a difference for a couple weeks, just because she is inseminated doesn't mean the eggs just suddenly start developing. It's like a pregnancy in humans, it takes time.

She might be older. The person I bought her from didn't sound to sure about her age. And I know she doesn't just pop out eggs lol. Ill just look for the signs when she is ready

I know this is off topic but I really want my chameleons to get in the habit of eating fruits and veggies. Anyone have any advice on how to get them to eat fruits and vegs. I don't wanna force feed them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Pair them with some insects. Place a few worms in a feeding cup and place some veggies with them, their tongue will snag it and once they taste something they like they usually remember to eat it by itself.
