My new amazing chameleons!

Aww....tell me about your Melleri.

Did you just get them? They look to be in good shape.

They are the coolest species in my opinion!! Welcome to the Melleri side of life!!

Yeah i just get them two day agoes, at the beginning i was looking only for one (i have one empty cage here... still empty by the way lol!:p finally one guy sold 3 milleri at one condition tu keep them in a free range and to not separate them. 3 too me sound a bit crazy but finally its amazing :p
Anyway i think melleri feel better in a free ranged space) i spend the whole day to setup the territory :)

I agree with you! the coolest species! Thank you!

Explain to me the way they are offered the water. Example - misting system, hand sprayed, etc. ????

With a sprayer, i start with the feet softly and with the vegetation and after 1 minute i try to spray to his mouth. stay about 3 of 4 minute with no results in fact the seem scared about the water. i install a dripper too. friday im gonna buy a misting system (maybe its a solution)

So, most chameleons don't actually like being sprayed directly with the water....especially if the water is room temp or cold in the bottle. Once it exits the bottle, it will be very cold. So, try warming your water up in the microwave prior to the misting session and don't focus the spray at the chameleons. Instead, try to create an area where you will always water. That way they learn that is the area they need to go to in order to drink.

Also, in my experience, it can take minutes of constant water movement(e.g. - drops of water falling off leaves, cascading water, etc.) to trigger the drinking reflex in melleri. That is one of the reasons melleri require such highly drained enclosures, because you have to offer copious amounts of water intermittently throughout the day. Now I am not saying a deluge, but I have automated systems that run about 45 minutes in the morning and another 5 minute burst in the evening.

So, while hand spraying is completely fine, for this particular species, you are better off getting an automated system. Also, in my experience, this species responds much better to large droplets over a fine mist. So I have raindomes on all my enclosure as well. That really triggers their drinking response much faster, plus, you can more easily maintain the temperature of the water offered when not so heavily dispersed in a mist.

Can you show me some up close pics of each one?

Based on these pics, they are long term captives...right?

They all look incredibly hydrated and well feed. I would recommend doing a fecal though!

Beautiful animals.

Also, you can get a monsoon, but for maybe ten - twenty dollars more you can get a mistking...and it is exponentially better than the monsoon.

Do not buy the monsoon I had one and hated it. I got a mistking and I like it so much better. The rain domes are really nice I have them on my 3 cages

1 year captive but new im my home now, maybe one look gravid
super, if they look great im gonna continue to try

ok for the fecal:)

yeah.. :/ but a guy sold a used monsoon for less than half of the price (i spend sooooo much money last week to setup the environment :p) maybe later
Kboz, why you hate the monsoon?

I didn't like the narrow stream of mist and I tried hooking up and also making my own rain dome for it and that didn't work. I also didn't like the timer on it. I just like the wide spray of mist out of the mistking the monsoon would spray straight through the cage that's just me. but if you only spent half for it than it was good deal. I mean mechanically the monsoon works good though. just my opinion.
