My New Panther!

I attended a reptile convention today to pick up some supplies for some dragons I have coming in this week, and to drop off another animal with a rescue. While I wasn't planning to pick up an animal today, I came across an Ambilobe breeder and I just couldn't resist. I have wanted an Ambilobe for many years, and they're the reason I decided to get into Chameleons in the first place. The breeder had both the dam and sire on display, and my word this little guy's lineage looks amazing. I'm so excited to see how his color matures! I'll provide much more pictures once he's had adequate time to settle in.

Before someone asks, yes I am keeping him in a glass enclosure. He is in an Exo Terra glass terrarium. I'm going to be monitoring it very closely to ensure the proper humidity is achieved without the risk of an RI. I am well aware of the potential risks, but I am going to be modifying my husbandry to ensure that he will thrive.

Did you get him from the Repticon near Charlotte, NC?

If so, which vendor did you buy him from? I saw 2 panther chameleon vendors there, one who had a few different locales (CB and wild caught) and one who only breeds ambilobes.

Yes, I did. I got him from the guy whole only breeds Ambilobes. I can't recall the name off the top of my head, but I have his card somewhere.

I'll get some more pictures in a couple days once he's had time to settle in. Really keeping any interaction to an absolute minimum right now.

I guess the base of the tail is pretty thick. I can usually spot a male pretty quick. This one was a little harder. Good luck with him.

That's the breeder I purchased my boy from a year ago, and he's doing well. I can't remember the breeders name but he's a real nice guy. I purchased a female panther from the other breeder at that show (so I wouldn't be inbreeding) and the ambilobe breeder was nice enough to give her a quick health check to make sure she wasn't impacted or anything.

BTW if you're in the Charlotte area and ever need dubias or super worms, hit me up! I've got tons of the things. I've got an orange head roach colony that'll soon be big enough to start using, too.
