My new wild-caught veiled...he shows self-awareness via the mirror test

Most of my family lives in Fresno, Ca. The rest lives in the Madera Ranchos suberbs I think? Not really Madera, but in the Ranchos?? If that makes sense...lol

Small world. I live near fresno.

The major thing is how you spell a bunch of things wrong ;) like colour, honour, favourite etc...

I've never travelled to the states but I've been told they call things by silly names, like calling pop "soda".

I'm clearly a little Canadian biased.

Oh and Dubia are illegal :(

Yeah we have dubia, but you guys have KINDER EGGS.

Wow, I didn't think I'd offended anyone, that certainly wasn't my attempt. I'll say it again, I'm here to learn all I can from experienced members. If you're offended I'm sorry, I'm just here like everyone else, to learn and raise my chameleon the best I can. If you have an issue, please let me know

My thoughts on this...Y'all really need to just come on down to Floriduh where we got all the best parts of this thread! Our self aware wild veileds are all like "Dude, Bro, Y'alll going to stop putting that silly mirror in my face?" That's right y'alllll is a regular part of our southern sweetness, plus you can ride horses down the road and Dubia are illegal too even the Canadian's should feel right at home, many migrate here every winter already! "Brah" seems to be the preferred greeting from my Cali friends (given we all surf together and I met most of them on surf trips.)

Also as an anthropologist by training with some background in linguistics I can't help but keep thinking about this notion of "Proper English" and how ridiculous it is.... Language is a fluid reflection of the culture in which it is spoken, not something static and rigid. The notion that everyone should speak in the same "professional" English on this forum may be idyllic but completely glosses over the subtle nuances and complexity of language with it's regional (and social) variation. Additionally this is a global community on the forum with many non native English speakers who have to deal with our complex language, idioms, and words like "Y"all" they probably don't teach in most English classes. Alas I'm here to learn and share about chameleons, so said my piece and will leave it to y'all to hash this out, already had to sit through a few lectures / discussions dissecting the topic and it seems best left to academics. ( The English dept. typically doesn't see eye to eye with us social scientist on the subject.)

Where in Alberta? Please don't say Fort MacMurray.

You are showing your age, JaniP ;). I don't think Canadians younger than 50 would ever call a soft drink "pop" anymore. Do they still in Alberta?

"Sorry" is the quintessential Canadianism. The Brits use it the same way. I can't stop myself from saying "sorry" even though I haven't lived in Canada for almost 25 years. "Eh" slips out once in awhile, but like a good Canadian I apologize for everything. We say sorry when someone rams into us from behind with their shopping carts. There is a really great scene in the comedy movie "Canadian Bacon" where the Americans are storming the CN tower with assault rifles while the crowd of Canadians are just peacefully standing looking up at the tower. As bodies go flying through the air after being knocked out of the way, they all apologize. It is one of John Candy's movies with all its slapstick comedy, but it really nails Canadianisms. I'm not sure Americans will get all the Canadian jokes.

One other Canadianism: vinegar on French fries. Americans look at you like you wanted to put ice cream on your french fries if you ever ask for it.

I never knew Kinder eggs weren't in the U.S. This is just crazy..
What is the reasoning behind this? ( I will have most likely already googled it by the time someone answers lol)

yup.... googled it! (y)

Seems silly. is lego banned too?? I guess in case the kids inhale the whole chocolate egg!! My kids are more excited to get the toy out rather than even eat the chocolate half of the time.

link doesn't work for me.... this is what I get..

For example, if you were blocked because it was detected that you are a fake Google crawler, then disable the rule that blocks fake google crawlers. Or if you were blocked because you were accessing your site too quickly, then increase the number of accesses allowed per minute.

If you're still having trouble, then simply disable the Wordfence firewall and you will still benefit from the other security features that Wordfence provides.
