My next pet will be a...?

Ball Pythons

-Friendly with children (I can work with the animal if needed).
Extremely Docile
-Doesn't need temps over 100
Around 80 I believe
-Has similar care to a crested gecko (temps of the room this animal will go into is 76-79 during the day, 68-72 at night. Humidity is always at least 40%.)
A tad hotter
-Can live in something smaller than 30 gallons (although I do have a 50 gal for when it gets older if need be).
30 Gallons is fine

Have you seen some of the AFT morphs, they have some really really nice ones. Not so bland. Or get a leachie.

Are you talking about the AFTs?

Yes, I have, but the price is a little.. surprising for some. LOL!
I wish they had a leachie at the show for under $200, would have gotten it in an instant.

A great gecko is the White lined gecko. My pair produced my son's first pet reptile. Her name is Necrid and she is extremely spoiled. My son carries her around all the time and she sits on his head while he plays video games. They are the close relative of the Tokay. I also take my pair to educational programs where kids come up and pet them. They are docile like a crested IF you get a CBB baby and raise it or you work with a WC every day for several months. My pair was WC but after taming them they are very nice. Here is a vid I did of them recently for a friend on youtube.

White lines? I already have one :D. His name is Charley and he is a rescue. I need to take him to the vet soon.. looks like he is getting a scab on his mouth that won't go away.

He is handleable but jumpy. He won't bite, which I am glad for. Might be because of the scab, though.

Now that I've taken a good look at the video, it looks like he's pretty thin, too. Poor guy. Doesn't have the lovely sacs yours does either. Booo! Now I'm getting paranoid.

Ballin it didn't take too long with the female, maybe a month. The male took several before he was completely calm all the time. He was very flighty, jumping away all over the place! They both are very docile now. Their daughter is just a spoiled thing! Very nice from the begining, we held her every day and let her lick applesauce off our fingers:) She eventually would take pieces of fruit and insects from our fingers too, shes a hog! The WC parents will only lick up the applesauce from our fingers but that's it, and it took awhile for them to even do that.

Syn since yours is a rescue and probably WC, as most are, it might have parasites causing it to be thinner than mine. Both the adults when I got them were a lot thinner than this. I treated them with panacur and they started gaining weight, same thing with my WC Tokays. All 3 of the adults eat a lot, just like the Tokays. I feed them 2 dozen insects each, every week and give them finely chopped fruit or natural applesauce 2-3 times a month. My female's calcium sacs are big because I put in a shallow dish of powdered calcium in the cage that she can lick up when she needs it. She is producing eggs so she licks up a lot of it and stores it for her egg production:)

The scab on his mouth might be from humidity not being high enough. When I lived in PA I would mist 2 times a day and they always had perfect looking mouths. I move to CO where it is very dry and their lips got all dry and tight looking. I added a waterfall and misted several times a day. Still wasn't enough! I had to cover almost the whole screen lid with foil before their lips turned normal again. Now it's VERY humid but they need it(the glass is fogged at times). They need more humidity then any other gecko species I have.

I will keep that in mind and I will start spraying more often. Not sure where I can get panacur and I am terrible at calculations and how to find out what to use and what not to use. I might take a trip to the vet.. but my mom's transmission just went out this morning. *sigh*

Hmm, you might want to look online and see if anyone sells it. If you have a scale to weigh him I can tell you what the proper dose will be and how long to use it. Another option is to try Reptaid. It kills parasites most of the time from what I've heard. I used it once on a corn snake and it killed off coccidia. Maybe it would work for you too?

Wow, nice video. Lovely gecks, and ever so calm. I am dealing with a rescue Giant Day Gecko currently -- seems sweet but I am not sure I will be able to handle it like yours. My AFT is another story -- he likes to curl up in my neck under my hair and sleep. I like to think it is because he loves me but it's just the warmth. Where in Colorado? I am a native, transplanted to utah.

As far pets for kids, I personally think beardies are great. Do not have but have heard that frilleds are good kid reptiles. I have pondered on blue tongue skinks -- I love the way they feel. Uromastyx are pretty cool too.

Thanks! I have a pair of Giant day geckos and they are also tame:) Yours can be too if you work with it. They are very skittish in the begining but if you hand feed it insects and let it lick applesauce from your fingers they become unafraid.

Check it out

Somebody asked me to do a Giant Day gecko care vid last week. When I do it I'll post it here for you to see it:)

I live in Colorado Spings.

Wow, they are calm. My lil` one just came in as an adoptee. The little toes are so messed up and looks like it went through a really rough shed. I am currently hyrdating and offering fruit puree -- I offered 3 crickets today but they were ignored. This is the first full day so I will offer again tomorrow and hope it gets hungry. I understand they do take some time to settle in ~ 3 days I've heard. So I would very interested in the vid you do because tropical geckos are new to me.

Colorado Springs. I was born at St Francis, went to Wm. Mitchell, old favorite haunts are of course the 'Gods and Manitou. Attended the community college Pikes Peak -- now called something else, I forget. Lived in the Rustic Hills area. Oh memories. Haven't been there in way over 20 yrs. I got lost the last time I was there. Missed the turn off at the academy because of such expansive growth up north -- it was really kind of depressing.:(

Well it is nice to meet you. I look forward to your video and of course all the info you can share.

Well, I do have some reptaid, I'm just reluctant to use it since I can't always get him to eat his crickets.. or get him to open his mouth. If I can get ahold of some panacur, I will certainly shoot you a PM!

Beautiful day geckos by the way. Can I send my angry/misunderstood/flighty creatures your way?

She is afraid to heck of my beardie. He is a long term rescue but still has attitude because his previous owners were terrible to him as a baby. BTS's would be awesome, they are just biiiiig. A uromastyx would be a problem because we have a swamp cooler and not A/C. Would be hard to keep the humidity down since they are so prone to respiratory infections. :(

ijmccollum, yes it can take a few days sometimes. Do you have crested gecko diet by chance? I give mine fruit as a treat like in the vid but I mostly give them crested gecko diet and a few cal dusted insects a week. I feed them the crested gecko diet every other day. You can also give the crested gecko diet exclusively if you want and you don't ever have to feed them insects because it is a meal replacement powder.

Yeah the springs are really developing. I have only lived here 2 years but even in that time it has changed a lot. There is always construction and Academy sucks to drive on,lol! Nice meeting you too!

Syn, thanks! You can send me whatever reptiles you want my way and I'll return them as nice as can be:)

I'd say Williamsii geckos (4g is plenty) if you could get pinheads on the regular
Love my new Super Tangerine and APTOR Leopard Geckos Foxie and Trixie, great color, lowest maintenance out of all critters I have owned, breed easy

We have a mossy Leaf Tail Gecko at work right now thats tempting me...

That's the problem, we can't get pinheads often and I have two little tiny baby house geckos that I found that hatched out the same day I found them (found the wet 'lil eggs in my mom's office).

Leopards are cute. :)

Get that mossy and send it to me, especially if it's female! :D

Ingen corporation is selling Velociraptors

At least, there are not complaints about not eating.
