Hey everyone we have just had our 2nd shead a few days ago, not as intense as last time no didnt post any pics of that. But..I'm still trying to find out if I have a male or female...the breeder said they have more and if I really wanted they would trade me for another. I want a male, not a female. but I dont think i would trade this ones kinda grown on me. I've posted some pics I just took so please any input would be great. The colors get shy when the camera comes out he/she doesnt like it at all! the normal colors are a yellowish orange with bright red stripes and blue on and around the stripe down sides, blues and greens on head and face cheeks. I tried to get good pics but like I said he/she hates it and once he/she sees camera the colors change dramatically. Thanks for any input. :)

So,for not i will say its a he.
The first 2 pics are when he just woke up when the lights came on and he knew it was feeding time, hes only those colors when hes sleepin and sometimes hes got more blues when he sleeps.
the rest of the pics are when I went to put crickets in there and he wanted to come out and climb so we went outside in the sunlight for a few min. I love pic 4 hes half dark color and half light color.

xX~~ PLEASE READ THIS ~~Xx

OMG so I've been talking to the breeder and I guess her and the daughter have been raising chams for awhile and the daughter had taken a female from FL Chams that the mother had and when she layed eggs and the hatched she never kept trach and said that they only have 2 left from the batch i chose from they kept a male and female and said that their NOT 5 months old..their younger! So now I'm not sure how old my cham is!? So now how old is my cham look and if indeed it is younger do you still think its a female or could it be a male after all? she said she would trade me but she said she definately wanted him back that he would look amazing as an adult and i would have to wait until the female lays more eggs. I'm keeping this cham no matter what it is...it could be a shemale. heres a pic and I'm holding up a keychain size tape measure just to show his size. what do you think, how old is he/she??

Wow. I can see why you're uncertain. In some pics, it looks very female, and in that last pic especially it looks male. You either have a spectacular lady, or a boy that is slow to colour up (which isnt a big deal). Im going with male. You'll know for sure soon enough.
Either way, you're obviously doing well caring for it

I don't think you said what locale is it? I'm posting a pic of an Ambilobe male I have exactly 5 months old as a reference. IMO you have a female.

I agree. The first set of pics that were posted, in every one I was certain that it screamed "Female" but with this last pic that was posted, it looks very male. Good call on either having a female with tremendous marking abilities (especially at that age) or a male that is slow to color up.

My vote goes for female. For 5 months old, Id have assumed if it was male, there would be much more of a bulge and also, he'd have left some sperm presents for you on some branches by now. Eskimo first did that at 4 months. Also, his colors were very much able to change dramatically by 3 months... You may have a very premature male but Im sticking with Female. : ) And he/she is beautiful!

i think i see a tiny bulge , and the last pic indicates male...\

by the way i also think u got a sambava, for the "u-bar" on its body....very cool, iether way cery healthy cham:cool:

humm....very hard to tell but most of you said female. I'm not 100% on the locale I was told the the mom was a Ambilobe from FL Chams and dad was either Ambanja or Ambilobe that was from another breeder...if that helps. the thing is when the breeder had them there were 5 total two were light brownish tan with orange bars i was told female and the 3 were grayish with red bars with that color on face and head or blue/ green bars and had those colors on the head and face. so i took one with the brightest colors of red but now its more of the blue/green colors shown in the last pic. I'm just a lil sad that i got a female...maybe they were all girls? I'm not sure but I was just hoping he was a late bloomer. if it is a female i didnt know they got all the colors like that i thought they were mainly browns, oranges and maybe reds...didnt know they had blue, yellows and greens. well then..i guess its a girl?! yea she/he eats and makes big poops(eww) and loves being misted and looks and acts healthy and I feel like I'm doin a good job so havin a healthy cham is good news to me, i just wish it was a guy thats all. thanks everyone.

looks like a female in one pic then *kinda* like a male in another. ill still stick with my first guess...looks like a beautiful female to me.

I just edit/ updated info on my first post, its not 5 months old, my cham is way younger. PLZ read and if any opinions or helpful info would be great. thanks everyone :)
