My Story

So its been a while since I have posted on here, but I figured i probably should give you guys an update.

My Girlfriend and I of 5 Years broke up and i was left with a Zoo to take care of. I had a hard time dealing with her being gone at first, pretty miserable. I never realized how much she did for me, though they were hers too. So shes gone now, and I've been taking care of them by myself. I've learned from this whole thing, that no matter what goes on in my life My animals shouldn't suffer. My Mellers was pretty sick, good news though, he went to the vet yesterday and gained 25 grams, so hes recovering well.

And after she left I also recieved a rescue. I very sick Veiled Chameleon, Under weight and with tumors. Well needless to say he went out to the vet, he was 198 grams with the tumors, my vet though that she could knock out the tumors with a laser, and he went in again 2 weeks later, weighed 225 grams, and a month after that went in to get his sutures looked at, hes at 245 grams, and hes mean as heck now =)

Enough talkin, heres some pics

for you guys who are wondering... Enzo is a New Caldonian Giant Gecko, He will weigh more than 400 Grams and be about a foot long

WOW, you were left with a lot of chameleons, but you sure have some drop dead beauties. The first picture nearly jumped off the page. Glad to hear the chams are doing well, sorry about the girlfriend, we will be here while you get over her. Hang in there.:)

Welcome back....

You have some amazing animals. That Veiled is lucky to have you. Hope you will post pictures of him after your surgery. Love the Melleri. A lot of people, including me, have gotten into those during the last year. A lot of us are into the Crested Geckos and other geckos as well. I've been breeding and selling them. Sorry about your breakup situation....This is a place you can spend some time and forget about that kind of stuff for a while. Thanks for the pictures!

Demon, Leo, and Enzo will be mine if you ever tell me where you live! LOVELY! I love all Rhacodactylus.

I hope you can do well with your little friends.

Good for you for getting yourself together and caring for/about the animals. No matter what happens in our lives they have to be taken care of. We made that deal once we took them in. As for the veiled -- good job with him! Please post some pictures of him after the tumours were removed. You're doing a hell of a good job on your own (and thanks for posting the pics!). Congrats! :)

Sorry Syn, but not if i get there first. LOL. I have a Cobalt Nosy Be too. You have beautiful animals. Who needs a girlfriend when you have us on the forum. I betcha ya didn't know how much work she did. My hubby didn't know how much i did till i got the flu and he had to work and come home and take care of me and our zoo. I don't know who was happier when i got better. P.S. You can meet all kinds of great girls at the reptile shows. Keep up the good work and maybe your melleri will chill out. I've had numerous ones and i've never had a mean one. Well not after that get use to you. I'd love to know what kind of tumors the were. My first melleri, on my avatar, Sprite got numerous tumors on his hind guarters but my vet said the only way to remove them was with surgery and anesthesia, which i didn't want to put him through. Of course his were malignant and the vet said it had spread anyway. I'm assuming your guy's isn't but it would be interesting to know what kind can be removed with lasers.

I honestly am not a fan of the mellers. But he's growing on me since i've been taking such close care of him. Talon ( the vieled) is doing well, needs a bigger cage now. When I get home I'll
post pics of him post op.

As for demon.. He's the meanest flightiest crestie ever. Leo is on loan to someone right now, my friends little sister wants a reptile( which is funny cause all of they're family is afraid of them and she's he girliest girl ever.. She's 11 it's cute) and Enzo is my pride and joy :)

thanks for the support :)

That pic of the veiled is shocking! Poor little man. :( Did he get all the tumours removed? It'll be good to see pics of how he looks now, bless him. He looked so miserable in that photo. How can someone let him get like that and not do anything to help him?! Well done for rescuing him and helping him recover.

Sorry to hear about your girlfriend, but it looks like handling things well. I often wonder what will happen to all my animals if something should happen to me. I have 15 cats, 4 dogs, 5 aquariums, 5 geckos and 3 chameleons right now. He has never had to feed, bath, water or vet any of these. I have done everything for him. So any of you forum members in Georgia - PLEASE take my chams and give them a great home if I should pass before my hubbie. I will have him put a post on here so you will know!! Good luck with your bunch!!

heres some pics of talon..
not the greatest..he was sleepin in the back of the cage..hard to get to him

his eyes are a bit deformed but he has complete range of motion with them.

hes a pretty boy, and has a crazy personality

Good job with taking the initiative with all of the animals! They're tons of work and need constant looking after, which is sometimes hard for a single person to do alone, as you've discovered.

Thanks for posting new pics of Talon. He looks so different now - like a different cham! Well done for nursing him back to health - he is gorgeous with all that yellow in him! :D

What a sweet story

Talon is very lucky to have someone to take care of him properly, Well done!!!
