My Veiled Chameleon setup

Hi everybody, I’ve had my veiled chameleon for about 3 weeks. He’s about 2-3 months old I think, I actually got him from petco which I know is literally like the worst place I could’ve gotten him from. But, I wanted you guys to look my terrarium and let me know if I can do anything to further benefit the health of my cham.

I have a hibiscus tree up front and 2 little
ficus trees in the back corners as well as some vines going around for him to climb on.

He has a basking spot around 90-95 and the regular temperature of the terrarium is around 75 degrees. I decided to buy another mini Reptisun 5.0 UVB bulb so there’s 2 of them providing his UVB.

I actually cut and fit a shower curtain around the whole terrarium to really keep the humidity in there because he is in a medium sized reptibreeze.

His diet consists mainly of gutloaded or crickets, he’ll eat like 5 or sometimes like 6 every day, i’m not sure if that’s normal.

Wellllll that’s pretty much all I got for you guys, so if you guys could let me know what i’m doing wrong, It’d be greatly appreciated.

If this is your first setup I would say you have done excellent I have seen some horror stories. My youngest veiled eats between 10-20 small crickets a day but he's a pig my juvenile will eat roughly 10 mediums. Here's a picture of my juveniles just for you to compare setups

yep, first cham i’ve ever owned

Is that a plastic feeder cup? You want to use glass. Crickets could climb out of plastic. If you don't have glass, get an inch or two of packing tape around the inside of the dish near the top. :)

Usually as soon as I put crickets in the cup he comes and eats them so there aren’t really any “left over” crickets, and for whatever reason it’s kinda rare that they do escape the cup. Thank you for the advice though, I will take it into consideration lol

Yeah mine gobble their food up right away. The only reason I learned to use glass was because as they get older they may split up their eating and not eat all at once. I like to keep track of how much they eat and my enclosure is too big to free range so if a cricket gets out i never know if it got eaten or escaped until scares my wife later that night lol
