Need Chameleon Advice

Most of the plants listed in that thread dont require any special care. I can appreciate trying to make things easy, but what is easy and what is right isnt always the same thing. Plus, I prefer to give the OP the benefit of the doubt that they arent just looking for the easy option!
Thank you guys for the benefit of the doubt! I’m going into this with the right mindset. My lack of knowledge won’t keep me from doing this the right way! I’ll check out the plant thread I’m going to stop at a local nurse tonight to try and find some of these plants! I’ll take a picture and upload it later!

Please do take pictures! Everyone here loves to see a new fluffed up enclosure!

Once you have picked your plants please check back in if you have questions on placement , you will need to clean them and pick up a plan soil , no additives .

Okay! So I picked up a Pothos vine plant and a Pilea Money plant (? It was on FLChams so I went with it). The plant nursery told me I don’t have to worry about pesticides or any additives that would harm a lizard. They seemed sure of it but they also don’t have a pet Chameleon. I wiped down the leaves and stems. I know it doesn’t look awesome and wow but I’m hoping the plants will grow and I’ll add a larger piece of wood for climbing. I scheduled a vet appointment and replaced the blue daylight bulb with an iridescent bulb until I upgrade my lighting.

To be safe just put it in your bathtub and give a really good rinse . They may grew there own plants and use something Organic . Yes it will fill in amazing . In the am I will get pics of our condos . They get huge xox

If you are handy you can cut a peace of wood . Give it an inch or so horizontal beyond the frame across the top . Then you can is plant wire and hang the plant . From there you can add lots of pathways . That will give you a bit of time till you upgrade .

You do not need the rug it will only hold mold/ bacteria . Your doing a wonderful job with the baby .

I hung my pothos with fishing line from the top beams of my enclosure, then put a small dowel going under it for some extra support. It makes that 1 pothos give you a lot more useful cover because you want the top parts of the enclosure to have the cover rather than the bottom. I only have 1 pothos in my 18x18x36 and it has grown in to completely cover the whole enclosure! I'm upgrading in a few weeks though so I'm gonna need a ton more plants lol

Hey there! It’s been a little over a month and I wanted to give an update! Vet exam went great and Yogurt (Spaceballs reference) was given a clean bill of health. I’m currently working on designing his new cage that I’m going to build for indoors. Wanted to say thank you to everyone for helping me get started on the fly. There’s still a lot of upgrading I need to do and Im still learning a lot about this little guy. I’m still looking for advice and input/product recommendations. So if you see something on my setup besides the cage that you think I should know, please feel free to say so!

Really good job on the husbandry. I see a linear t5, your bugs are getting great ingredients, and you’ve put live plants in her house. Really nice job!

Looking much better for the most part! I have two comments (actually 1 comment and 1 question):

(1) The main thing I think you are missing is sturdy horizontal perches going horizontally through the enclosure and specifically closer to the basking light. This is a cham's preferred way of travel and, while the pothos is a fantastic addition in its own right, it just isn't sturdy enough to hold up a cham for basking and whatnot. I know you're in the process of upgrading cages, but keep this in mind when creating the next one. You want many horizontal branches/vines/etc of varying diameters at all levels of elevation throughout the enclosure. Think of it as a highway systems within all of the plants.

(2) Not to rain on @Kaizen's compliment, but I have to respectfully disagree with the quality of your gutload. Is that spinach in your gutload? Looks like it to me and I could be wrong, but if it is then you should know spinach is not recommend for use in gutloads. While it is super healthy for people, spinach actually binds too much calcium in chameleons and you want your cham to keep all its calcium. It is not recommended to use at all for them. For better/safer leafy greens, try collards, mustard greens, turnip greens, and dandelion leaves.

Take a look at the gutload section here: https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/food/
You want most of your gutload to consist of items in the "Best" category: mustard greens, turnip greens, dandelion leaves, collard greens, escarole lettuce, papaya, watercress and alfalfa. Currently it looks like you're using 3 items from the "good" category and 1 item from the "do not use" category, so your cham would be benefited by making changes to your gutload system accordingly :)

Spinach leaves removed!! Thank you! And thank you for your input on the highway system of branches, I’ll add a few higher up and keep this in mind when I’m setting up the new home. I appreciate your help!
