okay my veiled just shed about a month ago and this one little piece was stuck on the front of his casque and it finally fell off but now theres a black spot where it was so any info on what happened and what i can do to help would be great

Hi Weezman,
How is your Cham otherwise. Still eating..etc. normally. I assume that you're concerned mainly because it may look slightly unattractive??

Posting a pic would be the most helpful so others can evaluate the severity of the problem.

Christine

i was just asking about it because i dont know if it could get infected or something

That almost looks like what had happened to my Veiled but on her back. I took her into the vet and the vet said that it was a burn that had got infected.

Normally these injuries are treated with Silvadene creme, which I believe may be obtained by prescription only.

But measures must be taken to prevent it happening again. In your avatar photo the light source looks very close to the veileds perching spot. It would be best if you could raise the light at least 5" above the mesh top of the cage. Do you have a thermometer. Raise the basking lamp, and then place the thermometer on the perch, and check to see if you have the right temps. Remember, the animal sitting on the perch is several inches closer to the light source than the perch itself. The target temperature depends on the age of you cham. For an adult veiled, 90-95 is good.

Here is a link to description of burns and silvadene creme:

Everything that has been said so far about you chameleons casque is accurate, and I cant comment on that aspect.
I would like to point out how fat your chameleons casque is.
Is he a "bit" overweight or maybe even obese?
Could you post a body shot and front view of him?

I noticed the same thing. He looks like my Guido. By any chance is he being fed a diet of superworms?

thanks everyone for the help and hes not fat at all, actually i think hes kindof skinny because hes a really picky eater but he gets fed mealworms and the occasional silkworm
