New cage for veiled male

Ok so my chameleon Pascal is getting too big for his current cage, he is 6 months old and has been growing quite fast.
I have an ideal cage I want for him but cant find one made for reptiles.

I was wondering if I were to put screening around a bird cage, would that be a suitable home for my little man?
The cage is huge, its perfect is height, but im a bit worried about how wide it is since he is still small.

Would this cage be ok? and should I wait before I put him in it or do it right away?

What size is he in now? Personally id put screen on the inside of the birdcage to reduce climbing sides.
He doesnt look to be quite 6 months. But maybe its just the pic. Can we see a pic of yhe cage? I'm sure it woukd be fine just keep track of how many feeders u put in to make sure he's finding them all.

He is about 6 inches with his tail curled up, I got him in late January and he was about a week old. His cage currently is 15 x 15

Heres a picture I just took.

I really like the idea of a birdcage because they come in cool shapes and sizes as well as they are ususally equipped with a lower tray and stand.
I'd love to see some pics as to wat u hsve.. but i thik he'd be just fine in a large cage. Hes ready for some roaminf room :)

I have the cage on hold at the store, I didnt want to take it home without the approval of people who know what theyre doing! When I get it, I will post pictures for you to see what im working with :)

I know this may be off topic but is it strange for your chameleon to be upside down often? Almost everytime I check up on him, he is upside down, im not sure if somethings wrong or hes just goofing around. & also he is frequently making a hissing noise, I know he isnt hissing but its almost like a gasping sound, he will do it every so often, could this be a sign of any problems?

A large birdcage has got to he double the money of a nice screen cage. From LLLREPTILE of diycages.com there's for a 2x2x4 is 100 bucks shipped. LLLREPTILE is a little more and diy is a little under a 100.

Actually, the one I have on hold was from a pet store down the street who is closing everything is on sale. The cage is only 60$ Alot cheaper than any reptile cage ive seen recently!

I don't know wat those issues could relate to... Is he puffing of weezing? Gaping? Could relate to a respritory problem.. I'd recommend starting a new thread for that one I'm no medical expert

We were at HomeGoods store over the weekend and the wife commented on some of the decorative bird cages they had there for keeping various things. I thought of a cham right off the bat.

Haha, I have searched every pet store around and the only cage I found that fit my description was a bird cage!
I wanted plenty of room because I was to start using more live plants, but I want a caged bottom with a pull out drawer for easy cleaning access. The way I clean his cage now is a pain! I put newspaper on the bottom and every other day have to change them out.
