New cage is up!

Omg HUGE s/o to everyone who has helped me out with getting this new cage up it has really made me very happy :) and my little chameleon absolutely loves it! It is a 4h x 2d x 2w screen enclosure. we have put in 2 different types of dracaenas which he loves to hide in. we also put in a bunch of willow tree sticks for his to climb around on. The plants are really helping the humidity stay up as it is saying right now 74%. The heat saying 79 in the spot that it is in but under the heat lamps we have a vine that he can bask on says 85 ish. we added the extra sprayer from my monsoon for 12 seconds every hour and it gets the plants nice and wet for him. He loves chasing the crickets all around the cage as it is good exercise for him. Yesterday he was super stressed about the new enclosure and all he would do is hide in the big tree, but that is completely normal and i was expecting that but now he loves it! climbing around in the tree and the sticks makes him so happy. It is so funny to see how happy he is with all the room and space to climb around on. I did order another vine for him to climb on wich should be here in the next week or so. It is a 12f long galapagos vine that i bought off of Pangea (go check out the website it is awesome!) But anyways i will add some picture to this thread to show the new cage and him showing off his freshly shredded new colors! That is very nice and looks like he has plenty of room to roam! Does he have spurs on the back of his back feet?? I was just wondering if you have a male for sure. Do you run your mister at night? Do you see him drink?? 12 seconds is not very long to run the mister, but if he drinks then that is fine I guess. Sometimes it can take them several minutes to be stimulated to drink. Also, make sure you cage dries out between mistings. You do not want the cage constantly wet. I do not use misters, but most people do not run them that often and run them like 3 or 4 times a day for several minutes.

yes he does have little spurs at the back of his feet, he always has. No i do not run the sprayer at nigh as i feel it would wake him up. And yes the plants always dry out. I have not seen him drink of if the plant today put he has only been in his new enclosure for not even a full day yet. I upped the misting to 16 seconds to make him see the water more.

ok great! Just checking on a few things for you. As I stated, it often takes chameleon's a minute or even more for them to get stimulated to drink, that is why people run their misters for 2-3 minutes or even longer. Yes, your chameleon is new to his environment and just getting used to things so it may take him a few days or even a week to get acclimated. Make sure you are there to observe when the mister is going off and he is drinking. Many chameleons will not drink in front of people! We call them "closet drinkers". lol I do not know what the reason is for this. Check the urate (the white part of his poop) and it should be white if he is well hydrated. If it is orange or yellow then he needs more water intake.

I would just suggest instead of all the sticks going vertical move some to make them go horizontal across the cage

I will check his urate when I get home to make sure it is nice and white, it usually is but I have only seen him drink once or twice!!! That is a good point u said about them not drinking in front of people. I am probs going to leave him alone until Tuesday or so and then start to really interact with him, thanks for the info!!

We were thinking of doing that but we were afraid that it will rip the screen it we were to tie them with some fishing wire, do u think it would? That is the only reason why we have them going upwards

Sure. I have some of my branches like that too. Still, if posible I go with the thumb tacks. They stay in place very well
