New cage

I recently moved my approx. 6-7 month veiled into his new cage. I went from the Medium reptibreeze to the XL which is 16x16x30 in to 24x24x48in. At first he loved it, showed his bright colors and was crawling all over the place. At first I thought he just couldn't find his food, but now he doesn't eat nearly as much as he did in the much smaller cage. He's a big chameleon so I figured more space the better but he isn't eating like he normally does which is out of a bowl that I put in his cage and I make sure he sees the bowl before i place it on the ground. Also he seems to want out all of the time so he can go climb my blinds. The thing is, he's pretty aggressive so he wants to travel there himself, he doesn't want me to take him. Is there anything I should do? He drinks looks healthy and is active but just doesn't eat much anymore and only wants out. He even turned down wax worms which are his favorite. Also his new cage is decorated a lot more than his last one which I thought would be good but the results so far haven't been good. Any advice is appreciated.

So, regardless of his current behavior, moving him into a new enclosure was a good thing.

The issue is that it is a completely new territory for him to become accustomed to. It will take a bit for him to settle in and realize that everything about the new space is safe and that it belongs to him.

One thing to make sure of, is that your temps, humidity and other values are as close to what they were in the previous enclosure.

Can you post a pic of his new enclosure? Are you running the same lights?

I am using the same reptisun UVB the long horizontal bulb. However I upped my heat bulb from 75W to 100W to make sure there was enough temperature gradient throughout the enclosure. I'll try and add a picture of his new cage in a moment.

My veiled was going crazy for awhile before I changed the way she was getting hydrated. I don't have drainage in my cage so I don't use a dripper like most people. I was wetting my kale greens significantly so she could get a good drink whenever she ate the leaves. However, I tried my mister with a low pressure and it seems to make a nice slow drip and when she saw it she went right for it and immediately started gulping. Now she doesn't seem to want to get out of her cage at all anymore. Idk if this is a similar situation but maybe your cham is looking for a better hydration source along with trying to acclimate to his new cage.

Thank you for your advice. I too switched my Panther from a large to X-large. He travels all over the place,
But his appetite has decreased. He is healthy boy. I have learned so much from this forum.

We really need to spread the word with other chameleon lovers. I purchased my boy 7 months ago and I am happy, he is doing well. Minimal
Information was given.

This is awesome.

I have a 15 month old male Veiled chameleon. When I moved him into an XL ReptiBreeze several months ago, he was not too happy either. I often left the door open with a fake vine that allowed him to leave his enclosure and hang out in a fake tree or on 6 feet of vines that traveled along the ceiling. He was almost always out of his enclosure. Then recently I purchased a 2' long ExoTerra hood that holds three bulbs which allowed me to add a second UVB light. He LOVES the additional light/brightness and now almost never comes out of his enclosure even when the door is open. Your little guy may need more light. It could also be that he's used to basking near the top of his cage but now he can't because the wattage has been upped and it's too hot for him in his favorite spot. You might want to go back to the 75 watt so he can bask up high in comfort. He will still probably have enough of a heat gradient to serve his needs...Just some things to think about.

Like jpowell86 said he just needs to settle in to his new surroundings. You have to also remember their apatite's decrease at his age. A veiled at 7 months to a year old doesn't eat half as much as a juvenile one does.
