new cage

started off with 1 12x4x2 and cut it down the middle to make 3 lenghts of 1"x12' then cut those to get 4'x1"

cut 4 of those to get 8 at 2'

cut a little off 4 to be able to make a base and top

formed the top with 4 of the pieces and put a diagonal through the middle to be able to hang her plant

finished frame

attached peg board to the back. peg board as apposed to screen or mesh help keep the humidity up and the white relfects any UV and heat. its also really handy when you want to hang stuff

feeder cup attached to the peg board

hung up the plant and rearranged the vines a little so she couldn't EASILY escape

lighting attached at the top

i would remove the in cage lights... burns can occour...

its not nearly as thick as it looks a little less than 1"x1"


the UV is about 6" away and the heat about a 1'

It looks really nice, I would try to move the lights outside of the cage just in case your cham decides that it looks like something fun to climb on and burns himself. Other than that it looks perfect

I gotta be honest, that peg board if you ask me isn't the best idea, Depending on how often you mist, and how much water goes through the enclosure, will cause that pegboard to warp, peel, deform in some way, pegboard is recycled wood that is pressed and shaped.

i would assume you are going to try and seal it with a paint.

As others have said, lights should not be kept inside the enclosure for the risk of burns.

you said you were not going to use a mesh, but a plastic chicken wire/ cloth wire, with 6mill plastic running over the sides to trap in humidity would be a bit more effective.

also your in orlando? is humidity that big of a deal there?

its far easier to control in florida then it is here in arizona, which is a constant struggle for me.

Good frame work.... but unless you plan to seal ALL of the wood that cage is gonna look like a curly fry.

You shouldn't use a red light either. Just a normal household light bulb. and you should have the lights screened off so you cham won't climb on them and get burned.

humidity is deffinetly not difficult my house is a constant %50 and all i do is mist the plant for drinking not humidity so like 5 sprays and thats it i replaced the red bulb with a normal bulb and i put a hibiscus in under the pothos and ill see what i can do about the lights
