My first post. I do more reading than posting on anything I keep! I have been a membe on a reef site since 05 and only posted maybe 200 times.
Soooo, I am the proud owner of my first cham. Had everything set before hand and did I fine job I think. He is a juvy Ambanja Panther. DOH was nov 27. He is a product of the chameleon company. Seems very healthy, eats like a pig, and I do get to see him drink. My question is how long will he take to settle in? I have had him for almost 2 weeks, and he runs from me like he is scared to death! The little guy is fast too! I hve now concluded he doesnt want me to tough him yet, so I have left him be. I really dont have a major concern, was just wondering when he will chill and quit bieng a big wuss?

Welcome to the forums! its good to see a new member and a fellow fish owner. Congrats on the cham, i hope you can post some pics of him. anyways, give him some time to settle but i heard that hand feeding can get them to trust you more and eventually he will probably be comfortable enough for you to handle him but if not some chams can be shy but you will have to find out. i hope your time here on the forums answers any questions you have, it has helped me a lot to prepare for my cham that im getting soon. Have a good time!

He is probably already settled in. And for the handling part, he will get use to you over time when you handle him. I would start handling him every couple days.

I guess my chameleons different then a lot of peoples because I handled her every other day and she's become very friendly but everyones is different. Some tolerate it some don't.

I feel you...my cham actually RUNS away as I get close to the cage T.T
Im just happy he eats and drinks AND poops :D

He doenst run from me unless I get close. He does eat, drink and do his business. Hes just a coward! lol I am not interested in handling him as say a cta or dog. Just the peace of mind of him bieng ok when I clean up his cage or just need to remove him for whatever reason. I hae a 150 gall and a 75 gall reef tank so I am used to not handling my pets! lol I have a mastiff for that :)

One other question I have seen nothing about. How often will he shed? I have a terrible time with humidity in my house. The winter heating is a pain. get ready...14%!!! He has a large umbrella tree, a dripper, fogger, and I spray probably 6 times a day. Dries out over night. He drinks well and his doo looks proper. Not really worried about dehydration, just hoping someone has experience with juvy's and there shed habits.
