New cham owner.

Nope, for females you will need to prepare for eggs. Even if she isn't bred she will most likely develop them. After 6 months old or so you should have one ready for her. I still have not seen a tarsal spur, so I think we are dealing with a girl.

Great resources here for laying bins...

I did some research h on tarsal spurs and its definitely a female

most people have the all reptibreeze screen cages a couple of feet wide and deep by 48 inches high! I would highly suggest (when your cham starts its growth spurt to look into Dragonstrand atrium cages they are extremely nice but pricy I like them because they give your cham space to spread out in terms of width that way if hes hot he can go elsewhere thats harder to do in a 24 by 24 inch area then a 3.5 foot area by 20 inch. My male veiled was going crazy in his smaller 16x16x36 reptibreeze enclosure he outgrew it so quickly! Other brands sell atrium style cages also but no dragon ledges which are handy for attaching potted plants vines or anything else. Also some people have some really nice free range setups to supplement a smaller cage. There arent a ton of quality cages out there so be careful some bird cages can even be used to success. Look for the official enclosure thread on here and you will see tons of ideas.

Now I just read you actually have a female I dont think they need quite as much room as a male but if you really want to get him a nice setup go with a dragonstrand enclosure with a MistKing or Climist system they are the best of whats out there in my opinion and are so easy to setup and use. In terms of UVB lights there is a site sponsor named Light Your reptiles that many recommend they have some nice UVB/plant lighting double fixtures that are made to sit on top of the cage or I really like my Reptisun UVB/LED fixture

and dont forget if you ever upgrade your enclosure keep the old one for your next baby cham cause you will want one!

I honestly think females need just as much room if not more than males because a good sized laying bin needs to fit in their cage. Plus it's just as important for them to get exercise as the males.

By the way I was in the same boat. Went into the pet store for a quick trip there when my girlfriend fell in love with their Cham, and now I'm on this website doing all the research I can

This is the dragon stand large we set it up over the last few weeks .

We also have a female .

Try putting a flat light piece of wood of metal from the side dragon ledge to the back one and secure them it will act as a platform to hold some weight I also use bungie cords I know what you mean tho.

Good luck! I also got my girls from a pet store and was told all the wrong info and sold all the wrong stuff. This forum will be a huge help. Read the care sheets and as many posts as you can! I have learned something new every day here!

Okay, I will definitely be getting him a uvb light. The pet store told her nothing about this! I will also be getting some live plants on there for him. Is the cage okay? What is this I hear about supplements. I just put my crickets directly into his cage, is this okay? I do this with my scorpion that's why I do it with this cham. More info please:) I feel like I'm missing a lot of basics on this guy
These are common mistakes many people have at first so they are easy to spot because many of us made the same mistakes but they are very important over the long run for health.
