i have a few questions for panther owners. i just bought a 10 month nosy be male, his name is duke. duke owner never handled him, when i went to the house to pick him up, duke would not come easy, i reached in to get him and i go a nice bite, didn't break the skin but i don't want another one. haha i went under him and slow trying to avoid what happen. My question is how should i start handling him. Duke eats out of my hand, but sometimes he freaks out when i am in there with food. i also have a 5 month old named rex, he is a lot better, he doesn't like coming out but does not bite or hiss. Duke is about 14 INCHES he is HUGE, thats why i think i need to take a different way of handling him than rex. any help would help:)

KEEP handfeeding, he will associate your hand with food. i also find it to help if you open his cage when you are in the room with him and let him see you doing normal everyday things. he will get used to u and possibly come out to explore.

i have the door open all the time for him, should i just Waite for him to walk on my hand? how much and how often should i be feeding duke?

with the door open dont even come up to him for the first week. then start to get closer to the cage and possibly "fool" around with the foliage or somthing, just let him get used to you. if he does climb out just make sure you keep and eye on him to watch where he is going so he wont hurt himself, if need be you can try to pick him up and put himin his cage. also i belive after 6 months he should only be given 5-6 crix a day to everyother day, i am not an expert however so im not 100% on that.
