New Chameleon Not Shedding Properly and Lump on Tail??

Hello, nice to meet you all!
I received a chameleon for Christmas after much research, but I'm still very much a chameleon novice..
I've had him about 3 weeks and problems are arising.

First, I'll give all the information about him that may serve useful:
- About 2 years old
-Eats gut loaded crickets (8-10) and occasionally a meal worm or two
-Eats regularly, has not refused to eat while I've had him
-16 L x 16 W x 30 H inch terrarium with multiple vines, logs, and artificial plants.

-Automatic mister in terrarium (sprays for 15 seconds every 6 hours but just adjusting it, any suggestions?)
-Both (UVB and heat I think?) lamps are set up were he has a a basking spot, I keep a thermometer to make sure temperatures stay safe.
- Humidity is a bit of a problem, substrate is at the bottom to try and keep it trapped though it swings often.
- Bought at a local pet store, employees seemed knowledgeable about reptiles

Now with the issues I'm having with him
-He appears to have unshed skin on his head and behind his neck This has been present since I purchased him. I've sprayed it with water many times before but it doesn't seem to have changed. When I came home today, I noticed his right arm has begun to shed properly, though this is the first time I've seen him actually shed

Sorry for poor picture quality, he wouldn't sit still ;

His arm currently
-A lump on his tail is present, which I do not know if was there before purchased. He doesn't seem hurt when I touch it or apply soft pressure. I can't tell if it's grown but I'm keeping watch of it

It's really hard to tell in these pictures. The first is from about a week ago but isn't high quality enough to tell much difference.
-This is very minor, but I've noticed he's become more grouchy and hissy. At the pet store he seemed unbothered to be handled and was much more friendly. This is suspected after being moved into a new home but things haven't seemed to improve

Any suggestions of what could be wrong or any solutions would be greatly appreciated. I was planning to take him to a vet soon but would like to get input before I take him.
Thank you so much for reading this over, have a great day!!

Older chams take longer to shed and it can be patchy instead of one huge piece. In places where the skin isn't supple (like the casque, head, dorsal spine) don't shed as easily because the skin isn't flexing around. Keep an eye on it. The old shed can get pushed off by the next shed. If it really doesn't come off you can try rubbing it gently with a wet cotton swab.

He may be pissy now because he's settling in and has claimed his new space as territory. Sort of feeling like the big man there, and you are the intruder.

No idea what the tail lump could be...especially without pictures.

Get rid of the substrate at the bottom. Its a breeding ground for mold. Also is more work to clean than is worth. To keep humidity up use live plants and use a clear shower curtain on a side or two of the enclosure.

Thank you so much!! This helped so much, I'll be checking his casque (glad to finally know what that's called) often while he sheds.

I see!! I think he's started to get settled, and pissy or not he's still a doll!!

I included pictures under the spoilers, They're large pictures and I didn't want to lag anyone's computer!

Again, thank you so much for your time!! Bango (his name) appreciates it! !!

I checked it today and moss had grown under his log. I rid of it all and washed the carpet, log, and all artificial plants surrounding it. I haven't seen him around the bottom of the cage, so hopefully he didn't get near any of it. The stuff was an absolute mess but the lady at the store pushed me towards it. I'll definitely find some plants to substitute for the humidity!!!
I'll be on the lookout for shower curtains, I have a very pieces of cardboard up to temporarily keep heat and humidity in.

Thank you so much for your reply!! I won't be trying that substrate again x_x
