New home and life for my cham

My first thread! Not sure if it is being done correctly. This is our Jackson. Red scorpion, beautifully named by my 5 year old boy. He was rather pissed off during the picture. We had just moved him into his new cage. The old one was a sorry excuse of a cage. I blame myself for not properly researching adequate care of a Cham, but rather, oh aunt gave us a free cage? Let's put a Cham in it. It was glass with a screen top, and not NEARLY size appropriate. Or furnished appropriately. We fell in love with him, despite our blatant disregard to adequate living. Our love turned into an addiction. Upon researching panthers after owning red scorpion for three months, we realized we were horrible parents. Our feeding was terrible to. Absolutely no gut loading or dusting was happening. I'm happy to say, we have decided to hold off on another Cham purchase. We are devoting out time and attention to red scorpion. Who is now happily living in a proper reptibreeze cage with real ficus, fake vines (working on getting different diameter) proper UVB and basking lights, getting routine misting sessions of approx. 1 -3 minutes , and a variety of organic produce gut loaded insects who have their own appropriate living facilities too. All of which were purchased with what we were going to spend on the new Cham. Although a panther is still on our mind, we are satisfied with just being a proper home for red scorpion, who is now consistently staying light green! My question is, what do you think of my cage set up ? Anything you would add or change? I have to get him a little dripper. So he currently just drinks off of the plants after I mist. image.jpg

schefflera arboricola.... That's what it is lol I'm going to get it right eventually! Anyway, as for the foliage - any exact suggestions?

Maybe another pathos near the top, with some more vines/dowels. There's a thread in enclosures section with pics of peoples set ups. Always good to look and be inspired.
Kath.

I have my ficas at the bottom with many vines and fake plants to cover each wall:)
I'm happy you have made this choice! Would love to see a photo :)

He's looking great. Glad you found the forum helpful and were able to turn your care around! I think it was a good decision investing your money in him before getting a new chameleon. I agree with others. More vines and branches but it's a good start.

Ok will do! The closest place to get vines and things is about 45 minutes from my house. Or to order online, but I'd rather see it in person before I buy it. It's hard to tell online. This website was incredibly helpful. There was a link to it on the website I was planning to buy the panther from. Teaching me loads when it come to my Cham. Looking forward to perfecting that cage! Thanks for all the feedback and encouragement.

It's funny that everyone says more branches, because that's exactly what my five year old boy said. Except he said, "he needs more bridges!" Lol

Also, quote frankly, I'm amazed at how resilient this guy is. To have been living so poorly for so long, I have no idea how he survived.
