New Jackson's

Hey Everyone, I just got a new Jackson's Chameleon yesterday. Found the forums while looking up some information, figured I'd post to say hello & introduce myself. I'm definately going to need some advice on him. So far so good but we're only 1 day in. LOL. But we're excited about our new addition! :D:D

Welcome and congrats on your Jackson's! My first cham was a Jackson's. He'll want cooler temperatures than some chams (not too happy much above 85 F), and high humidity - you probably already know this. Do you have a good UV-B bulb so he can make vitamin D3 (linear Reptisun 5.0 or 10.0 is a standard; compact fluorescent UV-B bulbs are sold at the pet stores, but can damage their eyes; mercury vapor (e.g. ZooMed) is okay). Sorry if this seems like the third degree; I jst don't know what background or experience level you're coming from, and want to make sure you and the cham get off to a good start!

He's my first, so I've been doing lots of research. I want to keep him happy. Im at work right now but when I get home I'll give you the 411. Its not the 3rd degree. I appreciate the concern, I'm an animal lover--Since I bought one, I want to take the best care of him.
It was amazing to see how MAD he was when they were trying to put him in his little carrier for me to bring him home, I felt SO bad--He turned like almost black!

Here's my little guy.

Aw, what a cutie! I have a jackson too, mine's name is Wilson. I found the same thing when I first got him, he was turning black all the time. But now that I've got a proper set up, and he's gotten used to his new home, he hasn't turned black in a long time. There's just an adjustment period they have to go through.

Welcone to the forum. We have a lot of members who keep Jacksons and will help you learn what you need to know. I can ffer only general help. I have Quads which are sort of like a jackson in there needs but not the same. When you have a minute fill out the form on asking for help in the health forum and I bet lots of people will offer assistance.:):)
