Hi, I am new to chameleons and learning as I go.. Out chameleon is 6 months old. We have had giggidi since he was 10 weeks and got to say I am a little confused by all the comments about stress. He loves loud noise and being handled! I would add a photo if I knew how lol.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

Giggidi is a fantastic name:) What type of chameleon is he?

I can't seem to locate the link on here on how to post pictures, but, when you "reply" there is a paperclip above, click on that and another window will open. There you can upload pictures from a URL or browse your computer.

Chameleons can't hear. They can "feel" noises through vibrations though.
As far as handling goes, you should keep it to a minimum. A couple times a week for a few minutes at most. Chameleons are best to be admired from afar. Even though it may not look like he is stressing about handling, he very well could/can be. Chams(and other reptiles) are good at hiding illnesses and stress. Other ways you can interact with your chameleon without handling is by hand misting(my chams get right into it, stand on their back legs to reach a stream of water, even shooting their tongue towards it), and hand feeding. They learn you are the food giver and come towards you for food. My one adult Panther chameleon I've had for 4 months I haven't even held yet, I try and he poofs up and gapes his mouth so I just leave him alone.

Looking forward to seeing pictures of Giggidi:)

Hi, thank you.. His name comes from family guy lol.
I totally take on board what you have said about the stress etc. I carefully researched what I should do etc. but giggidi wants to spend a lot of his time with us. As soon as I open his doors he comes running straight on to my hand. He will spend the evening with us, the living room is his playground! He feeds from our hands, will drink from the sprayer, comes right up to my face while I am talking to him and moves his head from side to side like a dog listening. He has hours of handling every day. He is also quite large for his age. He is triple the size, if not more, than his brothers and sisters. His crown is huge.. He is a veiled.

Hopefully I can get a pic on

He is very nice. I wouldn't worry about the handling if he initiates it. Some chameleons can be very friendly whereas some hate being handled. It is also possible to judge their stress by their coloration, normal relaxed colors are not dark or super bright. If they don't voluntarily climb onto you then it is best to keep handling to a minimum.

You are definitely very lucky to have a veiled that is so friendly. Of my three chameleons, only one will intentionally climb onto me, although the others are making progress. Most of it comes down to feeding them by hand and doing things on their terms.

They do often have an attitude change around 7-9 months, so you will want to remember that if he goes through a time of having a bad attitude :)
