hi everyone my name is kim and i got my 1st chameleon today. he get here around 11am. i took him out of the shipping box he was green and let him chill out for 2 hrs and he turned brown. i dusted some crickets and tossed them in to see if he need some food. he got green once he started eatting but after he was back to brown. can some one help me?

Assuming you got everything setup correctly, just let him be for a few weeks before sticking you hand in there to get him out. I know the temptation is to handle these creatures but you always want whats best for them. Please let him get settled in. (y)

  • Your Chameleon - baby vail chameleon dont know the age, male, feb18,2016
  • Handling - none
  • Feeding - small crickets, 10, plain on feeding in the morning
  • Supplements - rep-cal calcium no d3 everyday , rep-cal with d3 and rep-cal herptivite every 2 weeks
  • Watering - monsoon rs400 was too strong for him so using spray bottle for now, every hour for 30sec, i havnt seen him drink yet.
  • Fecal Description - droppings in box where black. i got him from lllreptile so i dont know if he was tested for parasites.
  • History - from lllreptile

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - cage is Screen, 18x18x36
  • Lighting -Zoo Med 100 watt Powersun UVB heat bulbs, 12hrs on and 12hrs off
  • Temperature - 65 to 93
  • Humidity - about 40
  • Plants - fake plants
  • Placement - on the floor by my bed
  • Location - north carolina

Your setup looks pretty good, I would suggest however, elevating him & his enclosure. Chameleons are arboreal creatures, meaning they like to live up high in the trees. In other words, it makes them much happier to look 'down' at the world rather than vice versa ;) He might also like a lil more foliage to hide in, but what you have now pretty good. Keep up the good work!

i plan on getting i table for him and some more plants when i get payed tomorrow

update: put some more plants in i hope its not too much and i also got a fogger since pascal didnt like mister vary much lol
