As for recommended species, it depends on what you want out of your pet. Each have their different merits and pitfalls. Do your research on each you may find interesting and hit up folks here that have a certain species you're interested in. I could talk your ear off about Lucky my turquoise veiled. Don't hesitate to ask questions, do your research and read, read and read all you can and then, once you've made your mind up, read some more. Welcome to the madness that is chameleon keeping.
Veileds are a hardier species and are a good starter cham. They do have big attitudes to. Mine has bitten me a few times.I really like veiled or jackson's. Which one is generally hardier and which one is less grumpy because I have heard of veiled being grumpy
I have no personal experience with ether of those species so I can't say.How about Jackson's or flap neck chameleons
