check out the new "veiled" chameleon baby from petsmart....
What do you think.lol
My first concern was they had her as a baby veiled. My second is her color is stress color. I am pretty sure she is wild caught and has quite a few healed scars all over her to prove it.
I would love ANY and all advice to help acclimate this extremely stressed cham. My son has named her Lisa Marie since he is MJ's number one fan. My male Jackson's is doing great! His name is Michael of course but here are the new girls pictures.
ALL ADVICE APPRECIATED. Thanks so much! I know spur of the moment purchases are a no no but I had to.

She looks like a Jackson to me - definitely NOT a veiled! I don't keep Jacksons (yet!) so can't offer amy advice, sorry. Pet shops can be awful when it comes to reptiles! It should have been obvious to anyone with a bit of cham knowledge that she is definitely not a veiled!

Well first, I hate to burst your bubble but thats a female jacksons chameleon. I seen petsmart mislabel things before. The good thing is if you have a male jackson, now you have a pair.

I dunno....I'm looking real hard and it kinda looks like a gravid female veiled to me. (not srs :p)

It was sad when my son and I walked to the display and I said "awww look at her". The worker stated "well we dont know if its a female or a male yet??" (thinking how sad they have no clue the species or that you can sex a real veiled) I looked puzzled then I looked at the sign and said "well its a female jacksons and not a baby veiled". She got kinda angry that I was questioning her skills. I then proceeded to ask if I could have her at a jackson's price since they charge 40 more for veileds. She said no. It came in as a Veiled and it has to stay marked as a veiled. I then proceeded to tell her treating it like a veiled and selling it as a veiled would kill it. Then she told me she knows but can not do anything other then tell people its what its marked as. She told me to buy it then I would know it would not be sold as a veiled. I left the store to only return an hour later to buy her. It really irritated me and she told me to take it up with the corporate office.

Wow, sounds like she was being stubborn. You could easily google some images and tell the difference to be sure. If they have that strict of a policy that they can't be corrected then thats sad.

Yes, she said if something comes in mis labled they HAVE to sell it as that no matter what. All because corporate does not want to change the skew#.
Its a horrible way to practice a business when live animals with specific husbandry is involved.

On a happy note I wanted to show off "Michael Jackson" my male that is doing fantastic. I just took this pic and he is a little unhappy he is shedding.

What kind of weird store were you in that charges more for a veiled than a Jacksons??? I didn't know even petsmart was that bad. I am looking for a nice xanth male, wish I could get one at a veiled price. Hope your new girl works out well.

Our local petsmarts are way way way over priced. She just said that to shut me up and poke my eyes. I bought my male Jackson's at the same store because he was sitting in the corner on the floor for 3 days stressed and I broke down and bought him for 119.99. This Jackson's female they had for sale as a veiled was 169.99 and that is what they always charge for veileds. She knows it cost more to buy a veiled. She wanted to be rude because I called out her mistake she did not catch. I am calling and talking to corporate tomorrow morning.
She was very frustrated at me and at their policies at the same time. She said she had tons of reptiles in the back that she could not put out because of mis labeling and no room. Its SAD!

She looks pretty good. I can't imagine the type of care she was actually recieving if they thought she was a Veiled. Good thing you found her!

Awww, that's just awful! I wonder how many other poor chams are suffering 'out the back' because they haven't got labels! How very frustrating for you. Kind of makes you want to rescue all the others too.:(

tHANKS. You dont think she seems a bit dark and stress marked? She stays in one spot in her cage and has yet to move except for her extremely long misting this morning. I misted 4 gallons into her cage and she drank almost the entire time. She sat their with her mouth open and would let it fill up and drink. She could not get enough water. I sure hope she does well and I am pretty confident she was WC with all the scarring on her.

Wow, how ignorant. At least she's in good hands now. To get her to settle in just give her lots of plant cover (I've noticed that my Jackson's loves being in thick cover more than my panthers) and lots of water. She should be much calmer in a couple days.

She told me she had a male Jackson's in the back that was so stressed she could not even put him out for the public to view. It makes me wonder because every cham I have ever seen in their is super stressed. If I had the money and set up I would have bought him too.
