New!

So, I've been lurking for some time now umming and arring if I should get a Cham or not! Well on Friday I did!
A little grown on young female yemen. Well when she arrived, she was shedding really badly and still has some bits to come off. She freaks out when I come into the room. If she's a green colour she will turn dark pretty quick.
I've seen her drink, but she has not touched any food of any kind yet. (Locusts etc) today she's been basking since lights on at 9.15 and is a dark colour.
I've been pestering other Cham keepers about my set up and I have everything spot on, except for the uv. I had to use an arcadia d3 arc pod as a temporary measure until my uv flood arrives on Tuesday!

I'm not fussed if she never wants me to touch her, but how long can she go without food? I've literally left her alone since Friday except for mistings.

I have experience of keeping other reptiles (geckos, bearded dragon etc)

Wow that was a ramble and a half.

Don't start worrying yet. Not eating right away in a new home is very, very common. It's only been a few days, so give her a little more time to get settled. You might try free ranging a few feeders in her cage and leaving the room to give her some privacy.

Photos? :D

Too bad you had the dumb luck of getting her just when she wants to shed!!
Makes acclimation to new surroundings even worse because you have that extra irritation.

Just leave her totally alone (except at feeding) and in a nice low traffic spot.

It may help to keep the cage covered with a cloth at night for more privacy.

It can take them a few days to adjust to a new surrounding and may be more defensive in the process.

Can you post a pic of the cage?
Did you find the Yemen cham care sheet on this website?

She's in my room, which only has me coming in and out. I have read many care sheets over the months. Here is her cage. It's one of the biggest reptibreeze ones, with 2 sides covered in black aquarium backing. Sadly the basking dome couldn't fit on the top due to the cage being on a high shelf, but it being and the side and shining down is giving the correct basking temp. have the thermometer there and also the thermostat probe.
Pictures really don't do it justice, there's plants at the back that you can't see and also a dripper system.

That looks good, but can you find a few more branches to go across about 8'' from the lights?

UV tends to degrade in intensity as the cham gets further away, 6 to 8'' is
about optimal distance for them to get a good 5% dose of UV.

I keep chopping the branches off my back yard dogwood tree for my guyz cages, and I free out when I see a pile of tree trimmings all heaped up in a bundle for disposal.

Sometimes, I MAKE trees, by cutting a good big tree limb with lots of little branches coming off it.
I wrap fake plant vines around the branches, drill a hole in the trunk, and bolt it to a stand, like a Christmas tree!!

Yep I've ordered another vine that will be coming with my arcadia uv flood light system :) I'll feel happier once she's settled down, finished shedding and eaten something.

I'd love to see pics of your homemade trees! If you wouldn't mind and had the time to take pics. :) I was thinking about doing something similar.

Is she in the picture of your setup? Hiding behind the feeder cup? It's like looking at the hidden picture books. :)

I think she was hidden up in the back when it was taken. She's still yet to eat, but hasn't quite finished shedding yet. :(
