'normal' panther chameleon?

What does a 'normal' panther chameleon look like? Ive been looking at one for sale, and the seller says it isnt a locale like a nosey be or ambilobe and that its just a normal panther chameleon.

Ive never seen or even heard of just a 'normal' one though...

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

I have an idea. Find another place to buy your Panther. This guy does not know what he is talking about.

Like Ryan said... This guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Every Panther has a Locale, or a mix of two or a few locales. The names like Ambilobe, Nosy Be, Sambava, Ankramay(sp?) are all the areas of Madagascar that the Chameleons were exported from. There are color variations that occur in Panthers when they are form different areas of Madagascar and its surounding Islands, therefore we have used the name of the area the Cham was supposedly collected to label it's color pattern. They are all "Normal" Panther Chameleons. I would correct this person, and take my buisness elsewhere.

Thanks for the replys. He seems sure that it isnt a locale though so not sure where he got that idea from...

Thanks for the help!

although everyone is telling you not to it probably wouldn't be a bad thing if you did research here and took pictures and posted them here as well so everyone could help you figure out if it's a good deal or not. I would imagine that if you get all the best info from the forums and just ignore any care tips the store person tells you the chameleon will be in a much better home :)

Im still awaiting pictures of the one he has available, but I made a thread recently about one of its siblings to find out what type and sex. Will find a link now to see if anyone wants to have a look.

Thanks.

i got to say that they looked pretty and healthy to me.
But, the label of "normal" panther freaks me a bit.
Unless if it's ridiculously good deal, i would not purchase the chameleon.

imho, there is no way you can pinpoint a locale from looking at the female.
(unless you do a DNA testing)

Well for UK prices it is a little towards the high end but not too bad.

If it was a male that he has available would you be able to tell the locale of it or is that not possible 'til its an adult?

Thanks.

Depends how old. It will probably be a best guess rather than a definite. It is possible to tell.

what Ryan said :D
and that assuming the breed is pure.
There is a huge possibility that this "normal" panther is a mix of locales.

Yeah I would prefer to buy from a breeder. Am having alot of trouble finding any near me though! Are there any UK breeders on here? I dont seem to be able to post a wanted thread on here.

Thanks.
