Nosy Be Panther Enclosures.

Hello! Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, as I'm new and still haven't quite gotten navigation of everything down.

I am struggling to find an affordable enclosure that is the proper size. I haven't had any luck finding them used or new anywhere. ReptiBreeze is sold out everywhere, way over-priced or on sites with no reviews. I have until mid-July when my cham will be ready to ship from FramsChams. Are there hidden secrets for finding the correct size? 😅

I'm afraid I cant help you with any "secrets". But there are many places with reptibreeze enclosures, including Amazon and any local pet stores, I would check online every day if you have to, I'm sure they will come in stock within 2 months.

You can also build your own enclosure if you'd like.

I Just purchase 2 XL Reptibreeze cages 2 weeks ago. One on Amazon, the other from Petsmart online. Be aware, both came damaged via shipping. One was minor so I decided to just go with it. The other was quite bent, but I bent it back (as best I could) and kept it anyway since it is going to be an outdoor enclosure so the chams can get some natural sunlight when weather permits. I would check with local Pet stores and see if any can order one in for you.

From personal experience, never been a fan of the reptibreeze simply because I find it limiting. However quite a few people use them with success. I live in a more arid environment so a reptibreeze is not an ideal setup for me as RH where I live is 30% at the highest. I would suggest either building something yourself or looking around for a custom build, there's a few out there. Some other members should be able to help you track something down that will work.

Not hidden at all. Current consensus is as large as you can afford, but at least 24" x 24" x 48"H

An all-screen enclosure may not be the best choice, depending on where you live.
All-screen enclosures can be more difficult to achieve & maintain humidity levels than hybrid enclosures.

It can also depend on whether you intend it to be a standard enclosure or bioactive.

The biggest advantage of DIY is that you can get exactly what you want in size, features, etc.

I've been searching for that size, but nothing I find is in stock unless it's super overpriced. The ReptiBreeze I found on Amazon is typically about 120-150$ and the only one available is 260$+.

I was considering DIY, just started looking at proper ways to do it, but I'm worried I'll do something wrong.

I live in Southeastern Ohio, it gets pretty humid in the summer and very dry in the winter, plus I have baseboard heaters in my apartment, so I'm not sure where to go from that..

I haven't done a lot of research on bioactive, so I'm not sure about that yet.

Ah, yeah. I've read in a lot of the reviews that there were issues with damage. I found one on Amazon that was more than the XL typically is on websites that are sold out. If I'm going to pay 200$+, I'd like it to be better quality than that.

I contacted Diycages and they will have some of theirs ready next month sometime, so I'm hoping to catch one of those.

It was recommended that I have it set up for a bit before actually receiving the cham, so I would like to be able to do that, just to have some time to get it running smoothly and adjust as needed without anything in the enclosure because I'm worried I'll harm him if humidity and everything is not 100% accurate at first. 😅

I find one at https://www.joshsfrogs.com/zoo-med-reptibreeze-aluminum-screen-cage-x-large-24x24x48.html

One source is selling them only at reptile shows. IME, many vendors sell many different enclosures at shows.
reptile shows ohio

Great idea, thank you! I was considering going to a show, there's one about an hour from me that's usually weekly. I'll have to stop and see what they have.

Speaking of shows! Who's coming to the Vegas reptile show on the 21st - 23rd this month?! Hoping there are indeed a good amount of x-large sized cages for sale there, too. Haven't been able to get another addition lately cus of this cage drought :cautious:

Southeastern is 2 hours from pittsburgh. Not that I'm trying to push a sale on you lol, just saying. Just collecting dust at my house 🤷‍♂️
Hey, that's not terrible! What is the closest convenience store you would be able to meet at? I'm going to map it and convince my other half to drive me. :ROFLMAO: It's 50$, correct?
