Hey Everyone.

My male and Female NosyBe's just mated for the first time... The first round lasted around 10-15 minutes or so. and they have now seperated. Both are very calm... How long should I leave them in the same cage together... Ive read after the first time take her out... Ive also read that they can go at it a few times before they need to be seperated....

So what do you guys think? Nobodys flaring up, both are calm on different vines right now... :D

So long as the mating was successful, I don't see any reason to keep them together. You can try to show the male to the female in a few days and if she turns non receptive coloration or gapes at him, she has likely already been mated successfully. Good luck, it is an exciting event to have! ;))

I just took a peek into his cage, and it looks like they are getting ready for round two... haha...

Nobodys gaping yet and she is still receptive, so I guess I will let them go at it again then see what happens. Im checking on the cage every 5 minutes, since I have it completely covered right now.

Just a word of caution, do not leave them unattended for 5 minutes. There is really no need to completely cover them and leave the room.

Sit quietly within sight of your cage to observe them, it only takes seconds for something bad or unexpected to happen. You need to watch them closely to ensure the safety of both animals.

It's not like egg laying where total privacy is required. Anytime multiple chameleons are placed in a situation where there is no escape available, it is best to observe and be prepared to intervene.

I took her out after their second mating session, and it was kinda funny, they both looked sad. After the second time they were kinda cuddeling next to each other relaxing. I wish I could of got a picture, but they were deep into my fake plants in the males cage. When I took her out, he went kinda crazy looking for her, and she didnt look too excited about being moved. But they are both separated now in there own cages.

Is there any need to show them to each other again in a day or so? I know the first time he was inside her and it looked successful. The second time I couldnt see there bottoms because they were too deep into the cage.
