Oats and critters?

Is it OK to use oats instead of bran in with the critters? The last lot of crickets I bought were really starving and demolished a bunch of dandilion leaves and a piece of carrot with in minutes! So I had to feed them again LOL. I did not have time to sort them properly into their home when they first arrived. When I came to take them out of their containers to put them into a bigger one today I decided not to put the dirty pooy bran back in with them and not having any fresh bran I used oats instead. I put gutload and a piece of apple in with them. They totally ignord the food and are all munching away on the oats? Are oats OK for them and my cham?

OOps appologies I think that i have put this in the wrong part of the forum !

This section of the forum is fine. I don't see what the problem would be feeding them oats, I don't think oats are toxic to crickets or chams.

My mealworms and superworms live in a bed of oats. Nothing wrong with gut loading with it. Just make sure they get fruits/veggies for hydration preferably fresh greens

Thanks! I was a just a bit concerned when i saw just how much of the oats they were eating. I do always give them fresh fruit and veg of some description for moisture.
