The ants have taken a liking to my cricket gut load, and now are everywhere. I don't know how to get them to stay out!! They always come back....What should I do.?

I don't have a bigger one to put it in...Would double side tape on the outside of the tank work.? I could put two or three lines of it...There's a lot of them...

Ants wont drown, Ive seen a bunch of ants form a raft in a puddle of water.. Buy yourself some ant bait stations. You dont need to worry about poisoning your cham with them.

I believe that vinegar can be added to the water, which will make the ants sink and more likely to drown.

I have noticed HUGE ant hills forming in my backyard :( So I am about to have to battle them as well.

Uh oh, Do you have fire ants in NC?

Im not sure what they are atm. They are small reddish ants.
The largest bed Ive come across is 4+ feet long:eek:

Ive never actually seen the ants outside of it though???

I just noticed a large maybe foot tall mound of loose dirt that wasnt there before, and when I kicked it they went everywhere. There has to be thousands upon thousands in there.

When I had an ant problem I placed the containers in a tub with water and dish soap. Did not stink and the ants don't try to cross.

For my containers of honey I use a thin coating of oil so they can't climb. It totally works, but I dont know if youre gonnawaste a lot of money of oil if its a big bin

For an aunt hill like that I would get an exterminator. They get into your house and could cause damage.

That actually sounds like a fire ant mound.. but could be another species. I suggest you have a professional come and identify the ant, theyll usually do a free inspeection. couldnt hurt. IF you do call a professional, do your researchon them there are a lot of them that really have no clue what theyre doing lol.

ive used vasoline on the underside of tables, coated around the legs..its unpassable for them, and use the ant bait traps, they can only reach the traps and take the poison back home instead of your great gut load..

Thanks guys, I guess it could be more serious than I thought :p
