Plants - 2 live ficus, branches (were oven dried before placing in cage) a fake vine
Placement - cage is placed on a piano bench at the moment in our living room, usual place is in bedroom on the computer desk that has no computer lol, due to the height of the desk and the cage, she is a little above eye level, not much, but our ceilings are pretty low
Location - The great North, Kanata! (Canada hehe)
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Female, 1 year, Veiled. We have had her for about 2 weeks now
Handling - Whenever she wants! Seems to be she's always reaching for us (See my Hello Hello post in general discussion) We figured she would be a good pet for our son as he wants a pet, but is terrified to touch anything (he likes to look at his chinchilla, but will not hold him, he doesn't even like our dog on his lap)more of a really cool pet to look at, however she constantly wants out, tries to escape when I'm feeding or misting by making a run for whoever opens the cage, she'll just crawl all over us. My daughter's nose has scratches all over it lol
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham: crickets with cal supp.
What amount: 8/day going to start every other day as I may be overfeeding with 8 everyday?
What is the schedule: 4 morning 4 night
How are you gut-loading your feeders: don't know too much on this, but they get orange slices, potatoes (sweet) and lettuce (I only get a couple crickets at a time as we just got her and wanted to see what to do, are not planning on raising crickets though)
Supplements - wardley phos free calcium
ingredients are: cal carb=37% vit e=min 10 000LU ascorbic acid=min 1200 LU vit D3=min 100 000LU vit a=min 110 000LU menadione sodium bisulfite complex=min 136mg d-calcium pantothenate=min 90mg thiamine mononitrate= 6mg
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use: misting and little cup of water attached to side of screen. How often and how long to you mist: 2-5 minutes w/ spray bottle 3x's/day Do you see your chameleon drinking: out of the cup yes (that's how she came to me, don't want to change anything and mess her up lol)
Fecal Description - urate= normal white feces=normal consistancy and colour (brown)
Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? I don't know
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you: her tail was lost in some unkown accident, either a nasty fight with her sister when little, or the previous x 2 owners children catching her tail in the cage door
Current Problem -
Well, Miss Fred has been circling her cage pacing and hangin out at the bottom of her cage in the soil/peat mixture she has scratched a little but the will proceed to climb back up and then perch on her basking spot, then repeat the whole process again. She has been in our living room for a day, only because we finally revealed her to our son for his birthday yesterday, (after hiding her for a week in our room, he wasn't allowed in our room because our "floors" were being redone and there were nails everywhere what little 5 year old believe lol)
anyway, she'll be back up to our room tomorrow where she will enjoy her solitaire again.
Now, after this long post, I have a couple questions
1) is this egg laying behaviour?
2) do I have adequate egg laying environment? 12" soil/peat mix, easily diggable
