Just taking a poll on Panthers vs Veiled and how "friendly" they are....in other words not trying to bit you everytime you need to clean their cage or walk by and being nice and tolerate to being held to take them to their free range spot etc. Please leave whos nice and whos not and which they are just trying to decide which way to go...I know theyre all different but just trying to get and idea.

veileds tend to be more aggressive and non tolerable to being handled. its more of luck obtaining a "nice" and "friendly" chameleon

Calyptratus (Veiled) are far more agressive and territorial than Furcifer Pardalis (Panther). However, every animal is different. I just think the chances are higher to get a tolerant Pardalis.

PS: Do NOT forget that chameleons aren't dogs and cats and aren't meant to be manipulated often!

i cant really give a fair vote but my veileds are very "tolerable" to me :) they have never bitten maybe hiss once in a while, but thats about it. they'l even come to my hand when they know they are going to their free range spot.

I have two veileds one male Luie and a female Camille. They are BOTH little teady bears. They recently had babies and all 27 of the babies were extremely friendly. Veileds are so smart and have so much personality. I love mine with all my heart. :)

its so hard to decide!! Both my panther (male) and my girlfriends Veiled (male) are complete sweethearts! Im getting myself a veiled (female) so i just love both XD

people can give their opinions one way or another but there is no guarantee you will get a "friendly" chameleon. both can be aggressive.

my veiled is slowly getting there :D he used to try to bit and hisses on me... now every time he sees me he knows im there to help him out(FOOD) lol and grabs the food of my hand without questions ask .

There's no way to answer this...you will tend to pay more attention to the answers you want to hear and discard the ones you don't want to hear.

Both can be nice
both can be nasty
it's hard to predict
and they are unique personalities from individual to individual.

A cham who doesn't bluff or defend its turf at all can be so shy it panics when you are around. That is the other end of the personality spectrum. True, you may not get bitten or threatened, but handling it will still result in stress and fear (just on the cham's part not yours).

What's probably more meaningful would be to ask whether you must have a tolerant, social animal or will enjoy living with whatever personality you end up with.

I have 3 panthers who are all friendly and I have 2 Veileds that are both aggressive. So I obviously go with panthers being nicer :)

i have a male veiled who is quite the nasty little guy.

puffing and hissing is necessary for even the slightest of movements.

the only thing he doesnt get mad about is feeding time.
