there are MORE slugs :( she looks great, has not missed a meal yet, but there was just enough off in her, not acting herself, plus- her belly- I was really hoping for a clear ultrasound, but in my heart , I knew better :( I am so sad for her- she went to the vet, had her ultrasound- we could not tell how many, but for sure she has more- so we gave her a cal/ injection, and I took her home, and started the Oxycontin injections - she has passed 5 more slugs so far- so that is 27 slugs so far- this is a HORRIBLE thing to watch , she is making her noise again, but I know this is what is needed for her to live - but it breaks my heart to watch - this is a pic of the ultrasound - you can see some of the eggs - will keep you all posted- its going to be a long night :( if she can not pass these all, I am going to have her spayed - its the only last choice - but good Lord, just how many more of these *#^&*!! things can she have! :(
here are a few pics of her ultrasound, and one my daughter took of Olive and I , this was right when we got there, you can see Olive clearly smells a rat  and she fought so hard during the ultrasound, both the vet, and I have little bloody Olive scratches, but she was able to take the stress, but I held her this time, not the nurse, and I think that may have helped for her to be held by me ?? but she def/ did much better this time -

We are going to get her past this!!. Might take lots more ph calls, but I am here and won't go to bed until you and Olive do. I am just glad she is passing more or them. Now if she could just get them all out.

Thanks for sharing.
In the ultrasound, I can see the outline of a baby. AWESOME!

Can you send pic of male, because Olive is great looking.

Thanks - good thing there is the time difference - if I call you at midnight here, its really only 10 - right - lol

I have a headache - go figure

Thanks, I think Olive is pretty great too :D
unfortunately, those are slugs :( but at this point, she has had so many, and I am so confused by her and all this- it would not surprise me if she has a baby in there, or 20 more slugs - or a UNICORN at this point   :p

I definitely hope there is no unicorn.

I hope Olive passes the rest of them. I wonder what was making it so difficult for her?

Poor girl.

What an ordeal for both you and Olive! I'm glad to hear she is getting more "relaxed" at the vet but I'm sad to hear she had more slugs. It's got to be so hard to hear her passing the slugs, but she is tough and I know she is going to be OK.. :)

Poor Olive, and poor you! Hopefully you get all those slugs out and get her right as rain soon. And, just think, if you do find a unicorn in there, well that's You Tube gold right there!

I just gave the last shot- my hands were shaking so bad - my daughter helped me with one, and Olive made her bleed , so my son helped me with the last one- Olive is so strong- he teased Emmy about being a "baby" - well, now he also has little Olive "battle scars " - :p
I sure hope this works, the last shot did not do anything, I wish we could have gotten a count on the slugs- it will be at least one more trip back I am thinking - she looks so tired :(
thanks for all the prayers, and well wishes everyone -

Just read all the updates. Hate to hear that she is passing more of the slugs, but they need to get out. Like you I am wondering how many she is going to have. Bless her heart, surly she can't have too many more?
no unicorns, that would just be to hard to explain. (and could see the Exotic Vet Bill for that one!) finding a specialist would just be a pain...lol
I hope that you and her get through this and be done with it tonight.
Hugs to you and well wishes sent to you and all your Lot.
How was the hubbie's viit to his doctor?

ok, I REALLY hope we are done - she has had 5 more, all passed within the hour of the first shot- I did not look down in her plant- but I am pretty sure this is all - these were stuck on the vines in her " birthing" area she goes to when she had her babies last time, and about all the slugs this time, she goes to this spot- so anyway, she looks very tired,, but the edema is also very minimal - almost gone- I kept an eye on her last night by watching her cage w/ my binoculars & very dim (15 wt bulb ) from upstairs - my husband now thinks I am nuts :p he is like GO TO BED ! but I wanted to be sure she was not going to prolapse, she did not - WHEW ! but I had everything ready just encase - she had her slugs, and then she curled up in her sleeping spot, and went to bed - and that was it ~ ( no unicorns :p )
I turned off the light( it was only 2 hrs after her normal bed time - and the light did not seem to keep her up anyways)
I will call the vet in just a bit here, let them know how it went, and go from there - the first shot did a lot, the 2nd and 3rd did not seem to do anything? here is a pic of the most expensive slugs you will ever see
and a quick update on my human honey - he is NOT going to need surgery, just a really " high fashion " boot - lol

Well I hope you girl is done ... even with out the unicorn :D
Glad your hubbie is going to be ok too.
Any improvement in you boy, watched the video, is he able to eat any better yet? did the Vet say that he would get better?

Max is holding steady - we hope, but do not know for certain - when he sticks the tip of his tongue out, it pulls to the left- like the right side is unable to do much- I am going to try to get him to work it a bit more by making him stick it out more- he just put the tip out right now - but we will see, I am not giving up on him either :D

Thanks for the update Cheryl! I hope that is the last of the slugs, it makes sense that they would be with the oxytocin... I just know she is going to get through this, she is so darn tough! It makes me feel good to know that she is little Sammy's momma and I hope that he has that same toughness in his blood :D He sure does have a strong grip for such a little guy...

I sure hope this is over, poor little Olive :(

Would it be a good thing to let her soak in a nice warm bath for a while?

Or might that make things worse??

slugs

I read in one book the highest count for jax babies was 50. I wouldn't know my highest litter count has been 15 so far. On a side note: did you mean oxycontin or oxytocin? HUGE difference. seriously though, good luck and stay positive. All the female jax i have seen with birthing issues have always been ok afterwards. So power down the stress a little and play the fun grandma role. it will work out. (did she have to pass a urine screen for pain mngmnt like here in VA? Where i go we have to pass 6 a year. I can never pee on the spot. Too much pressure.)
