OPINION: Why I don't feed crickets

@PetNcs I didn't mean we had to weigh out food,

I just meant as to Kaizens reply of .5-.75g per feeding, that seemed not enough.

That would be 1 smaller Mediterranean Cricket every other day, or 3 crickets a week.

That seemed a little too little to me. However as you said every animal is different.

And, as I tried to explain also, if the temps go down, even this amount can be for an adult absolutely sufficient.

So Petrs Caresheet, says to feed 1 Mediterranean Cricket per day, about in volume.

Med. cricks, average at about .75g (females .9, and males .6)

So about 5-5.5 grams per week, to give a ±.25g

so 3 1.75g meals per week would give you the 5.25gs per week.

Petr thinks, that most overfeed, and his diet is not overfeeding. So I would say, but lets let Petr answer, that your suggestion might not be enough.

Of course this is species depending and I am talking full grown male, Panther/Velieds.

@PetNcs your thoughts?

Glad you caught that @cyberlocc, thanks. I think I must have been trying to say 2-3 food items, each weighing .5 a .75 grams/feeding. However, I can’t be sure, as I was...um...tired. By 9:00, I’m usually pretty tired and am liable to do poor math. At any rate, I think 2-3 reasonably sized feeder items each weighing roughly .5 - .75 grams (so we get a meal of roughly 1.5 - 1.75 grams) 3 times per week sounds right. What do you think?

Sounds good :).

Most moths fly at night. Butterflies don't

Yes I know. Most, we are looking for polinators.

Most moths fly only at night—but some fly during the day. You'll usually see butterflies flying during the day, and moths at night. But beware—some moths are active in the daytime. A few, such as this snowberry clearwing (Hemaris diffinis), will even visit flowers alongside butterflies and hummingbirds.

You are correct, some moths are diurnal, some fly in the evening, crespucular (sp.?).

I don't think I will ever not use crickets...they are easy to keep and breed and feed/gutload...the smell can for the most part be controlled by proper cleaning of the cricket cages....and you can buy noiseless crickets...but being that I was born and raised in the country it's not an annoying noise to me....it's kinda comforting.
Sorry @Gingero :(

I agree.I just keep my crickets in the bathroom in a tub that suppresses the sound. There is also no smell.
