Heres my story. About 5 years ago I bought a baby panther, say half the size of your pinky. Yeah it was small.. Had an orange and light red color. I think I bought it for 125 dollars shipped. I had him for a month and he didn't make it.. Was it cheap because the breeder sold him at an earlier age then normal?
Or maybe my inexperience with panther killed him? At the time I had veiled and they were doing fine.

Im thinking about getting a panther from lllreptile soon..

What size cage did you have him in? What kind of lights were you using? What were you feeding him? What kind of supplements were you giving? What were the temps like?

Sounds like he was only a few weeks old. If you think it is because he was too fragile, try getting a juvenile this time around, ask for something past 4-5 months old.

I believe temp was in the 90's. Maybe it was too hot?
pinhead crickets and fruit flies.. I gutload or dust em like how I do to my veiled. I mist a lot tho 3-4 times a day..<-- come to think of it, I was using cold water. But from what I remeber he has amazing color at the young of an age.. Not sure how old he was but yeah half a pinky finger was tiny.
He was active but fragile.. I just got a 2-3 month old veileds from lllreptile. They are doing alright..

It's not a good idea to get a very young chameleon unless you think you have significant experience. 2 months old is pushing it. 3 months may be ok for most people. For panthers at least.

Just be careful with lllreptile. I have purchased chams for them before and have requested a female and received a male - also, make sure it is cb - the wc I have gotten from them in the past have been full of parasites, and several did not make it.

I would recommend buying from one of the sponsors of this site. At the Super Show a couple of weeks ago I saw some of lllreptiles chams. One had a huge swollen eye. In my opinion I would stay away from them.

i second this ..you get what you pay for..study up.. and dont be afraid to ask questions..

90 is wwwway to hot for a panther.:).thats about what you want their basking temp to be(90-95)..the trick is to provide a temperature gradient so the chameleon can regulate its onw body temperature.. My cage temps range from about 73 to 94, give or take..and at night drop to 70-75- all around..

Forever is right. I let my adults go outside up until 95 and its pushing it. I give them long cool showers also to keep them cool and hydrated. It is definatly way to high for a baby. They shouldnt be kept over 80 degrees. I also wouldnt buy from lll again. They sent me 2 gravid females without telling me. All 4 were beat up. 2 had URIs and only one is here now:( I knew what I was getting into when I decided to go with my decision because you cant find those species hardly anywhere and I want to still work with them.

Hey man just a suggestion...there are many knowledgeable and quality breeders on this forum who can sell you a very fine chameleon. You should check them out before buying a cheaper one from one of the reptile supply online stores...not that they are all bad. My experience is that the folks on here are straight up and solid on quality. Good luck.

yes thank you for all your voices.. So anyone selling a baby almost juvi panther chameleons? Jk I am interested in a month or so....
