Panther Chameleon Baby

Chams have excellent vision...he does see the insects. It could be that he's leery of being seen climbing down to get to the insect bowl. Little chams are shy and don't like to be in plain view. Your cage is fairly bare. A suggestion...drape some of the vegetation or arrange a perch down near the rim of the bowl so he can climb closer and watch the feeders move around. If he feels that he isn't being observed he's more likely to hunt. Don't put too many insects in the bowl at once. Little chams can get overwhelmed by all the activity and its harder for them to isolate and sight in on one of them. Once he feels more secure in his new home and can expect a daily routine he'll be bolder.

If he were mine, I would try to keep him in a smaller area. I know it's expensive to just go out and buy stuff. It's also gonna be hard cause it sounds like he is alone all day. I agree, the heat thing at night is gonna dry up everything. I had a bunch of little jacksons and they all clustered at the very tippy top of their cage. I got pinhead and I wasted a lot but I put some in a shallow cup and put the top against the cage. They all started crawling up on the side toward the top. After a while the little guys teetered over there and ate them off the side. I couldn't get those guys to stay towards the bottom of any cage I tried They just took off upwards. I hated to go to work and worried all day.

My husband is home for like 4 hours during the day then the kids are with him so it's a family job to keep up on all the animals we have another cham but he is bigger. He has been drinking and we just found poo so I'm pretty excited. I really hope he's eatting when I'm not looking

I just got a baby panther myself and it was almost a full week before I saw him eat anything. I try to leave him alone as best I can and he is in a spot with low foot traffic. I try to keep crickets available to him at all times and keep him well misted. I do know what your going through though. It's tough not to worry but just keep an eye on his health and activity. I would definately get more coverage in the tank though. Also my basking spot is just above 80 and I don't use any heat at night and it drops to the low 60's.

Here's a pic of my Reptoslicer. Have you named yours yet?
