Panther chameleon not very active.

Hello everyone I just got a male panther chameleon about a year old and he does not seem to move around very much. He will eat just fine but just sits in the same spot all day. Is this normal? Thank you

No he is sitting under the basking light. The Temp is 72 at bottom of cage and 82 basking

I'm going to get a higher wattage basking bulb to raise the Temps asap

An adult panther should have a basking temp of 86-90 degrees. He is also older now, which is why it is recommended to cut back feeding to every other day. They are no longer growing as fast like they were as babies/juveniles.

I have only had him for 2 days. I am new to chameleons. I am basing age off of what I was told. He is about 4.5 inches from nose to vent and is a nosey be x ambilobe.

Honestly, you can feed everyday. Instead of feeding 10 crickets every other day, you can feed 5 everyday. I've actually stopped being so precise about the amount of feeders my guy gets. I'll offer him 1-2 dubia roaches one day, and then a butterworm with 4-5 crickets the next. I'll even skip a day or two sometimes if I notice he doesn't seem interested in his food. He gets silkworms, hornworms, crickets, dubia roaches, butterworms, phoenix worms & black soldier flies, and superworms, so he doesn't lose interest in one feeder easily.

Also, post a picture of your new cham if you like. We would love to see him.

Here is a pic

I'm thinking the same as Matt. Theres no visible issues with your chameleon, just a beautiful little man who would like a warmer basking spot ;)
