Panther Passion Tour (Madagascar Jan 09)

I bet $4500 is way worth all the stuff you will see and the experience alone. Man, wish I could take the time off... I would love to go... I am going to start planning ahead for the next one... Is this a yearly thing?

but that doesn't include the 2k for airfare to & from mad. a bit (a huge bit) on the steep side for me.

I would so love to go to something like this. It would be too hard not to take home chameleon souveniers though :p

Welcome i'm new to this site, just saying hello from Canada.

Cheers to everyone my name is Stephan from Canada, fellow chameleon breeder.:)

I don't know if you would want to go cheap on a vacation like that. If you do, you might end up in some civil war zone or get your boat over taken by pirates. I'd be fine with paying extra for tour guides that have experience.

same here, and when you look at the prices of other safari's etc. then you look at how much you will see it really isnt that expensive. you are going all over the island!

I also think that it would be hard not to take a souvenir, but i think that the pictures would be the best part of it! I would definitely have to buy a new camera if i went

Man Im having a slow day..

Yea, I wanna know who went and what it was like..
My daughter won a national geographic minimag for being top reader and she was excited when she showed me. It was all about Madagascar.

Every cloud has a silver lining ....

If you hadn't followed it, Madagascar was in the middle of major political upheaval, riots, and other civil difficulties, that left over 125 folks dead in the Jan-Feb time window. There were curfews, and daily bulletins from the U.S. Embassy service advising westerners to "stay away". That was not the reason for the cancellation, but maybe things will have timed out for the better anyway. The President resigned two weeks ago, a 34 year-old ex disc jockey is running the country, and the civil discord has subsided for now. I do think it a "not-for-long" situation though.

I was following this to a small extent but from what I understood the people that died were due to riots etc in the capital so I didn't know if it affected the trip. Kinda sucks it didn't happen.

Are they maybe postponing it? I would really love to go :)
