i *think* my guy is getting dehydrated. i am not sure how that can be but none the less i think that is the current situation.
my question is i got some unflovered pedilyte today. when i give it to him since i don't use a dripper. can i spray him with it,to ensure that he will drink it?
should i do this for a day worth of misting(3). or do you do it longer than a day?
thanks for any advice you can offer on this.

i am new to chams but remember pedialye is water, salt and sugar. spraying your cage with sugar worries me....just my 2 cents

hope others can be more helpful

Have you tried putting him in a plant in the shower for about 20 minutes? Let the water hit the wall and bounce back onto the plant. The chameleon should eventually drink.

Does your chameleons fecal have the white urate? If so, he's not dehydrated.

I use a dropper. Pedilyte only last for 48 hours after you open it, and also must remain refrigerated.....which makes it a pain in the butt and an expensive habit. I would also recommend trying a shower, and maybe offering more hydration to your insects via more veggie or water crystals.

i haven't tried the shower but i dont' know that i could get him to stay on teh plant to get him to the shower. should i have my husband grab him and put him on the plant. i have never really had any contact with him.i only open it a bit to feed him ( i don't hand feed) and to mist him. i only clean the cage when he is sleeping.
any ideas?

heya Kim,
pedialyte is good if shower still does not work.
I gave my cham pedialyte during his Albon therapy as the medicine + parasite activity can severely dehydrate chameleons.
I agree with everybody else. Pedialyte contains sugar. and this is approaching summer. if you mist with pedialyte, the sugar can attracts ants.

Try showering first. I think you might find it enough to hydrate your chameleon.
There is a section at the link i gave you for shower method:

Make sure, he's old enough for this therapy.

Hope that helps
