Petsmart rescue (trying my best)

Got a little juvenile male veiled chameleon from petsmart. He’s not in great condition at all, very under weight and looks to have MBD just from how is leg was positioned and is in shed so they let me take him. Took him home and he ate some dubias and crickets and I just tried to heavily dust them with calcium without D3 and multivitamin. He’s under a t5 Arcadia 6% bulb and and heat light rn but I don’t have a cage for him so he’s just free roaming on a small hibiscus tree. I’m seeing how he does through the weekend and taking him to the vet as soon as i can before ordering a cage and supplies for him. Couldn’t let him die at petsmart so I’m gonna try my best to save him.

Good luck to you. Let us know what the vet says.

Any photos of him? I'd give him a dose of D3 and get him on a schedule. Without D3 the calcium can't be absorbed into the bones.

Natural sunlight for 15-20 minutes each day would be beneficial as well until you can get him to a vet.

These are from yesterday, the second pic is him eating and the other pic is right before I turned off the lights, he looked a little better after the feeding but definitely still look super slender to me. But I definitely take that advice thanks!

Would you guys recommend a reptibreeze XL 24 x 24 x 48 screen cage or exo terra large X tall 36 x 18 x 36 for a Adult Male Veiled Chameleon. The exo terra one has a lot more room but not as tall but thought I’d get some feedback first.

Hi there... While I agree your baby looks to be under weight I see no physical signs of MBD. Which is great. It should not take much to get him on the right track. I would suggest getting a fecal tested to make sure that the weight issue is not a parasite issue. I have a male Veiled. I have a 30 wide 24 deep and 48 tall. I prefer width. If I were to build him one I would do a really wide format and slightly less height with the same depth. I think you are better off to go with a 2x2x4 over the 36x18x36 just because the height and depth on that one are less. I have a dragon strand atrium with ledges and easy drip pan. I love mine. They are very very well made. So if you are not into building cages then you might prefer something like that.

Where do you live? I have a cage you can just have if you can pick it up. I probably have other supplies too.
I live in the southern Illinois region but if you have an extra cage and aren’t using it I’d be glad to pay for all the shipping, it save me a lot more than buying a whole new cage.

Update: looks like he is finishing his shed, they’re these white dots that kinda look like shed but I’m not so sure, anyone think it could be something else?
