i'm curious to know how you all have managed to get such amazing shots of your gorgeous chams. i have tried many times to take pics of mine, but they are very camera shy.
maybe i should use a cham-era...haha...lame joke, i know. but on a more serious note, how do you get such great shots?

if the dslr not enough, and u dont wana handle your cham for the photo, get a tripod for it, put the camera on the tripod in front of the chameleons viv. He will think this is a part of the environment and it doesn't harm him...so get used to it. When the camera doesn't bother your cham anymore u can take all the pictures u can imagine. It worked with other animals, so maybe can work with chams too. (in the wild the whole thing is under a camouflage tent..but the viv is not the wild:) Keep trying m8! good luck!

well, i'm on the right track so far with a nice digital camera. i will just have to get them used to the camera. they are still young, so i'm still working with them to not be afraid of me as a handler.

I've thought about doing a "friday photo day" and share photography tips one day a week in an ongoing thread with examples and such. But I wanted to do it with a point and shoot since that's what most people own here (and I don't have one).

Plus, as I started to go through the things I've learned, I realized that I don't know that much and there's so much luck and perservearance involved.

Plus I'm incrediblly busy at home these days.

Anyways..Just an idea. So my advice is - take a ton of shots, try different exposures and settings, try with and without your flash. Explore your camera's capabilities and the potential of your subject and surroundings!

If you go to Repticon Orlando there is a special segment about how to photograph reptiles.

An excerpt from an email I got last week:

Bill Love of Blue Chameleon Ventures will be giving a very "hands on" seminar on Herp Photography - bring your camera and learn from an expert'
