So today is the 3rd day since I brought poor Picasso home and already looks 100% better. The sores look to be healing and the 2 huge ones that are on his face have shrunk dramatically from 3 days ago. When I got up this morning and turned his daytime lights on he was already awake, alert and milling around his cage. He ate about a dozen crix with their legs removed and a handful of mealies for me as soon as I put them in his feeding cup and sped over to where the nozzle for the drip system is as soon as it started dripping and just drank and drank and drank.
Made an appointment for early next week for my herp vet to take a look at him and hopefully get some antibiotics. I snapped some pics this morning after he had time to fully wake up. Im so happy and really hopeful he's going to pull through this, Im already getting so massively attached to him I really would be terribley upset if he didn't get better. Thanks for all the great advice, the one thing that has had me the most suspicious was that someone had mentioned that toxic plants can cause blisters and sores if the saps and juices continually get on the animal because I inspected the toxic rhododendron plant that had been kept in the cage and noticed a lot of bite and claw marks on the leaves. Im wondering if maybe after continual exposure to the toxins possibly got exacerbated by cricket bites and caused the sores on his sides. Won't know for sure till next weeks vet visit but Im very optimistic at this point. It's amazing how drastically different his health seems after just being giving proper lighting and nutrition for a few days.
Ill keep you all posted, and keep the advice flowing!
