Hi guys, I've been planning to build a cage even though I don't hace any cham yet, I would like to make it this size: 32-36W 20D 54T, will it work for a male adult veiled?? Should I do it wood frame, aluminium frame, steel frame??What screen should I use??
hi... Well I've built 3 cages so far... I like wood frame a work but then you have to water seal it etc... I've used aluminum screen (sorry I can't post link, on my phone). But since I don't let my crickets roam the cage, I'm going to use pet screen on my new cage. Main reason aluminum hhurts if it's not covered. My huge cage is 2ftx4ftx4ft which is going to be an outdoor cage. New cage is going tone 2ftx3ftx4ft, big enough for my big boy veiled.
I got all my supplies from Home Depot. I used 8 foot pine 2"x4"'s that i cut into 1"x1" pieces and i screwed them together to make the frame. Then i used a staple gun to staple the aluminum screen around the frame. I also used hinges and a latch on the door. It was pretty easy and affordable. The cage is 18"x18"x48"
As for size, minimum 2' x 2' x 4' so you planned size would be good. The 2 above are 2' x 2' x 6' and 4' x 2.5' x 7' respectively! Any questions do ask! The forum is a great place to get responses!
My recommendation for you is to make an Aluminum one for your Male Veiled. Honestly Jdog(senior member) has the best way to build one and has a video on youtube you can look at for yourself and it has step by step instructions as well as tips that he gives you along the way.
Here is his video, it will take you 30 minutes to watch it but I have watched it and it is worth the time if you want to build as nice of a cage as he does. And not to mention you can customize the height and everything else about the cage.
