Plans for new enclosure

Hey everybody. I am planning on building a custom screen cage. I plan on making 3 sides screen and the back wood. The wood will be covered with GS foam. To make a 3d background and all the hoses will be built in. I plan on making the enclosure 2' x 2' x 3'. Should I go bigger? I was also planning when he gets older I will make a small free range area off the enclosure. Advice needed!! Thanks

If you have room in your house, the bigger the better. :D At he very least I think you should add a foot to the height. 2x2x4'. But bigger than that is even better.

Those dimensions should be fine but keep in mind that the GSF will take away some space. Sounds cool though keep us updated! (Personally, I wish I had a custom 2'x3'x4' for maximum viewing potential but maybe that's just me!)

Definitely go bigger! Go as big as you can. The ratio of effort/labor to size for a custom enclosure makes way more sense to make the enclosure as big as you can. Plus your cham will love you for it :D My Jax is in a custom 2x3x6 and he uses the whole cage. I'm really happy to be able to provide him that much space.

Agree! It's really a rewarding experience. I have my own custom-made 2x2x5, I went with the "taller is better" and things turned out okay! Wish I did something similar to what you're planning with the wood. I did all sides screen and ended up putting plastic over a couple of the sides anyway to keep in some humidity.

Thanks, I don't have that much room, but I will make it foot taller and wider if it works out. I will take pictures as I build it. I plan on starting this weekend or next. I have some time, I'm waiting for the cold-blooded expo to come to MN. Another thing how do you guys keep up the humidity in the winter, like here in MN?

Make it as big, and especially as tall as you can manage to fit in your space, especially if you're building it. The cost in supplies isn't that much different.

Good luck with your build - make sure to post pictures :)
