Popeye the Pirate Cham Update

Oh, yeah. I forgot about that earlier request, too. I've never taken any pics from that side and, unfortunately, I think I killed my camera today when I slipped, fell, and dropped it into about 4 feet of spring water. :(

Ouch!!! Would have been a site to see though...lol.

Random Story... I was once watching a photo shoot on a beach in Malibu, and the photogs assistant was carrying a huge bag with wires coming out over one shoulder, and the giant umbrella light in his other hand as they waded through knee high water in the surf snapping pics of a swimsuit model... I knew it was going to happen as I watched this guy...and sure enough... The bag slips off his shoulder and into the water ...he freaks trying to grab it, and lets the umbrella light fall into the water also. He immediately stripped of his clothes down to his boxers and used his clothes for the futile attempt to save the equipment by wiping it dry. The photographer showed no mercy for the mistake.

It was like watching a car wreck.

Needless to say I watched the last 5 mins of the this guys career as a photographers assistant.

Sorry for the OT story... Hope you camera pulls through.:)

wow Kent, good job with this guy. That leg looks like he is going to have some really nice color.

LOL @ Joe's story. I've lernt my lesson about dropping cameras. I will always have a camera strap on them from now on.

Ok, finally got a picture of the opposite side last night. I didn't want to disturb him too much so it's not the best angle but I think you can tell what's going on. The eyelid is still intact but the eyeball itself has shrunken, as if popped.

My daughter also has a one eye panther. He's gorgeous and gets along great but had a bad eye problem and one of this eyes had to be removed when he was about 6 months old.

Is he still able to judge distance and shoot his tongue accurately? I had a panther that I hatched in 1999 with an incompletely formed rear foot. He fell alot. Somewhere around 3.5-4 years old he fell, "popped" his eye, and it eventually shrunk in like Popeye's here. That guy could no longer judge distance so I had to hand-feed him the rest of his life. Just curious.

He can not shoot. If you hold food out from his mouth about an inch or two he'll stick his tongue out and get it but can not do long range.

Yeah, same as the 3-footed guy. Popeye can shoot just as far and accurately as any of the others. I'm really starting to wonder if he'd been successfully living like that in the wild.

Got home from Anaheim to find Popeye about to go through a complete shed finally. I can't WAIT to see what he looks like tomorrow night! You can see the areas that haven't separated away yet and then some blue showing through cracks on his flanks.

Check out that blue. Like I said, Kent, I think you got one of the best of the bunch with that guy. Awesome potential there.

He will soon be a beauty not to mention a stunner. I think the girl chams are going to think he is a tough guy with just one eye.

Robbie's gonna be kicking himself for not buying him in Anaheim.

Sorry if I missed it... but how is his feeding missing one eye?

San Diego. ;) He doesn't care for crickets, but I'm starting to think he was living with one eye in the wild because he can hit a superworm from just as far away as any of my other chams. I've tried to get video of it but he always stops going for the bug as soon as he notices the camera.

Yeah San Diego... That's what I meant:). You have done a great job with him Kent, HUGE difference.
