Preparing for my first chameleon, tips appreciated

Just hand tree tonight

I dont think substrate is necessary unless it is just like a fake grass blanket that water soaks through, with rocks under it with a pot under the rocks. This would make the enclosure more humid, having the wet rocks. If there is substrate in the cage then that would just give a place for crickets, and super worms and other insects to hide. If the ecoearth blanket would just be for a drainage system, i understand, but those are my thoughts on substrate.

If one is going to go with substrate a bio substrate is the way to go . @Traildrifterphalanx has a established condo for V . This thread is older and very lengthly .

Thanks for the input!
As mentioned, this topic is a little misleading. I should perhaps now change the title, but I think the title may help others looking to prepare as well and see what one could experience.

This has become essentially a memorial thread, and the journey of what lead me to Vedool (V)

The title is what made me read through all the pages when I was starting to seriously consider starting my own chameleon journey. So yes, please don't change the title even though it has morphed into far beyond what the original thread was created under.

Now, thanks to your thread and tons of help from @Matt Vanilla Gorilla, @Katacara and of course, @Kristen Wilkins, my wife and I now have blue lightning. We've been enjoying getting to know him since last Thursday after I finally got his enclosure done enough to bring him home. I still have a few odd projects on it I want to do yet though lol.
